Despite losing his chance to compete at Wrestlemania 35, will Kofi Kingston still get his shot to fight for the WWE Championship at event later this month?

Over the past few weeks, WWE fans have witnessed Kofi Kingston go through the ringer. He’s been fighting for a chance to compete at Wrestlemania 35 but Vince McMahon doesn’t want that to happen. Mr. McMahon has presented Kofi with some impossible tasks and Kofi has managed to beat all of them—all except one.

On this past week’s episode of Smackdown, Kofi was forced into a gauntlet match against five of WWE’s most bloodthirsty competitors. The list included Sheamus, Cesaro, Samoa Joe, Rowan, and Randy Orton.

From the get-go, Kofi was in trouble. He suffered a horrid beating at Sheamus’ hands and still fought off four more opponents. Somehow, the lone member of New Day tangled with all five and survived. He pinned Randy Orton to win the match and rejoiced in his victory. Unfortunately, Mr. McMahon interrupted the celebration.

While Kofi’s comrades raised him up to enjoy that moment of proving McMahon wrong, Kofi was given yet another impossible challenge—beat Daniel Bryan. Even though he’d just battled his way through a grueling gauntlet match, Kofi was forced into the bout.

Without any choice in the matter, Kofi fought hard once more. He tried and gathered all the strength left in him but it wasn’t enough. He lost to Daniel Bryan and subsequently relinquished his chance to compete for the WWE title at Wrestlemania.

The situation currently seems bad for Kofi and even appears as if this may be the first step in him leaving the company altogether. However, the WWE Universe has always mislead fans with these problematic upsets so there’s still hope for Kofi and his dreams.

Fans should also consider that there’s two weeks left before Wrestlemania. This is important because Kofi might be able to persuade Vince to give him a title shot during that time. Mr. McMahon has been staunchly against taking Kofi Kingston to Wrestlemania but maybe another member of his family will intervene.

Even though Vince McMahon is the WWE Chairman, Stephanie, Triple H, and Shane all have a say in the company. No member of the McMahon family has given their support to Kofi but that doesn’t mean one of them won’t step up for him, especially after this week’s Smackdown.

Kofi’s performance was one of the best in recent years and will go down as one of Smackdown’s most amazing matchups ever. There’s no telling if Stephanie, Triple H, or Shane would agree with that statement but the gauntlet match definitely gave them something to mull over in the weeks to come.

Hopefully, one of them does step up for Kofi because he deserves a title shot. Scratch that, he’s earned a chance to compete for the WWE Championship at Wrestlemania 35. The question is: will the McMahon family do what’s right and give Kofi the shot he’s worked so hard for?
