Gods & Heroes, the newly announced Netflix anime series, comes from the team behind Castlevania.

The NX on Netflix Twitter account made the announcement today about Gods & Heroes, boasting of a potential large-scale anime series.

Gods & Heroes, from the image included, looks to have the signature style of the excellent animation team. Powerhouse Animation, the animation company behind the new series, has a proven track record, as their Netflix series Castlevania is visually wonderful and can handle such an impressive project.

Here are the tweets announcing the show:

Castlevania is a wonderful anime series, which adapts the Konami video game series into the battle between good and evil, with strong animation and an excellent voice cast. The show will be returning for its third season in the near future.

Gods & Heroes looks to continue the tradition with its own cast, which includes Jason O’Mara (Amazon’s The Man in the High Castle, Fox’s Terra Nova), Mamie Gummer (recently on HBO’s True Detective), Jessica Henwick (Netflix’s Iron Fist, Luke Cage and The Defenders), Claudia Christian (Babylon 5) and Elias Toufexis (Amazon’s The Expanse).

Greek mythology is such a rich and expansive landscape for the show to draw from, and from the tweets, the story of a son trying to find his origins and the story leading to a battle to save Heaven and Earth has the potential for a lot of these elements to be brought in. It will definitely be epic, at the very least.

No release date is currently given, but the announcement alone is plenty to be excited for. With the pedigree and the talent of the animation team at its back, the show is sure to be well worth the wait and excitement.
