9. Piper Chapman — Orange Is the New Black

When the character first appeared: The very first episode of the series.

Why fans don’t like the character: Piper is the protagonist that we’re all supposed to get behind. She is the lead character; the one that introduces us to Orange Is the New Black. So, she’s supposed to be a character that’s well-liked.

However, that isn’t always the case. She’s not the only lead to end up on this list, but fortunately, the other cast members helped to make Orange Is the New Black enjoyable. And that could be surprising considering this is a show with a bunch of criminals!

So, what’s wrong with Piper? Well, she starts off as a privileged and whiny brat. Okay, that’s not a problem within itself. Considering her upbringing and lifestyle, it’s not all that surprising. She’s had it easier than the majority of women at Litchfield Penitentiary.

It’s the development that’s the problem. Instead of becoming a better person while inside or instead of accepting differences and learning from others, she becomes an even worse version of herself. She’s whinier than she’s ever been!

Her behavior inside has led to a swastika carved into her arm. This is nothing to joke about but if you haven’t watched the show, it gives you a hint of what her attitude leads to people believing.

There are times that you think she’s changed. It’s like she wants to but she just can’t forget her own ways. Just watch it from the beginning again and you’ll see why fans dislike her so much.
