The Sinner is set to return to USA Network for a third season and the show has added Matt Bomer to the cast. Are you as excited as we are about this?

The Sinner has been renewed for season 3, according to a report from Entertainment Weekly.

The Sinner was only intended to be a limited series when Jessica Biel starred in the show’s first season. She took a step back and was an executive producer on the show’s second season, and she’ll be back for the third one with executive producers Derek Simonds, Charlie Gogolak and Michelle Purple.

Carrie Coon took on one of the main roles in the show’s second season and Bill Pullman was the constant from both seasons. He’ll remain as the main character in the show, and Matt Bomer is joining the cast, according to the report. We don’t know who Bomer will play just yet, but USA Network released a description for the season.

Bill Pullman’s Detective Ambrose is set to investigate a tragic car accident that seems like a normal accident, until it isn’t. The show is hailing this investigation as one of Ambrose’s “most dangerous and disturbing case of his career.” That’s a bold statement and I’m excited to see where it leads Detective Ambrose.

I thought the first season was stronger than the second, even though I did ultimately enjoy both. With Matt Bomer’s presence in the third season, I’m hopeful that it will be another good season. Bomer is currently in Doom Patrol on DC Universe and was the main character in White Collar. I’ve loved both shows (for very different reasons), so I’m always willing to check out what he’s working on.

The Sinner takes on a different approach to the procedural story by telling you who is guilty right away, but unraveling why it happened. You can always expect twists and turns throughout the journey to finding the answer.

The first season of The Sinner is streaming on Netflix and I highly recommend checking it out if you haven’t yet and would like a good suspenseful show to watch.
