The most recent episode of Fox’s The Passage ended with Amy Bellafonte undergoing a slight transformation. Will she make the full turn—despite staving off Fanning’s psychic manipulation?

Warning! Spoilers for the latest episodes of Fox’s The Passage follow. You’ve been warned.

In episode eight “You’re Not That Girl Anymore” of Fox’s The Passage, Amy (Saniyya Sidney) faced the same challenge that all the virals did. And while they succumbed to Fanning’s (Jamie McShane) persuasion, Amy has managed to resist much of what he’s planted in her head. She even diverted from the only two choices offered to her.

Originally, it was either Amy choose to become a viral or die. But Amy being the strong-willed kid she is—chose to return to the land of the living—defying every warning she was given.

Surviving the ordeal also confirmed that Fanning lied about the choices he presented to her. This also implies the other virals, including Carter (McKinley Belcher III), could have staved off his manipulation. The odds, however, were in Fanning’s favor when he latched himself on to them like a parasite.

In Amy’s case, there’s a change coming regardless of her resiliency. Episode eight concluded with Amy’s eyes converting to a yellow color, confirming as much. The eyes aren’t the first sign of her transformation but it’s definitely the most troublesome.

Next. Will Fox's The Passage change a major part of the story?. dark

Working to make Amy better, Dr. Sykes (Caroline Chikezie) has manufactured an antiviral vaccine for the Golden Child but can’t administer it. She’s trapped in the lab while Amy and Brad (Mark-Paul Gosselaar) are locked in a separate corridor. Sykes getting to them is just one of many issues she has to contend with since the virals have been released from their cells.

With all these obstacles in Sykes’ way, it doesn’t seem like she’ll get the vaccine to Amy before her transformation is complete. This sounds bad but Amy’s resilience gives us the impression that she is the Golden Child.

All of Sykes’ findings concluded that Amy possesses immunity to much of the virus’ nasty side effects, so there’s a good chance she won’t turn. Amy is obviously undergoing some sort of transformation but it doesn’t seem like she’ll go rabid like the others. *We also know Amy won’t turn because she’s the person narrating the show—from a future point in time.*

Nevertheless, the extent of Amy’s transformation is the aspect we want to know more about. The dialogue in episode one confirms that her mind is still intact, but that doesn’t mean Amy hasn’t developed a thirst for blood in the future. Who knows, her first victim may wind up being Brad. They are trapped together after all—and Amy is one step away from her final transformation.
