The Umbrella Academy renewed for season 2 at Netflix: Report

The Umbrella Academy looks to be returning with a second season. What could the show tackle next given how season one ended?

The Umbrella Academy took Netflix by storm and even though it did receive some mixed reviews, I found myself enjoying it. It wasn’t a direct adaptation from the comics, but it took a good chunk of the ideas and translated them onto the screen.

According to Geeks WorldWide, the show has been renewed for a second season. Netflix doesn’t appear to have made any official announcement just yet, so I wouldn’t consider it confirmed just yet. However, it appears that the first season did do pretty well for them, so a second season wouldn’t be surprising at all.

I haven’t read all of the comics so far, but before the first season dropped, I read the first two trades. A third one is on the way, which provides the show with more source material to pull from. However, they could take things in a direction that the comics don’t go in, too.

Spoilers for season 1 are coming, so if you haven’t watched it yet, you might want to skip to the end. In the final episode, Number Five is able to transport the family, including Vanya, to a different point in time. We don’t know when or where they will be, but it was a pretty good cliffhanger to leave us with.

As far as a second season goes, the family mentioned that there might be a chance of them being able to fix Vanya. They didn’t meet their demise, so that’s a plus. They still could have ended up in some undesirable place, though. I would like to be able to see how they play out that cliffhanger, which could lead to new problems for the family to face together.
