Fox’s The Passage took a small break from continuing the journey to look back at the road taken so far in this week’s episode. Check out a recap of “You Are Like The Sun” below.
The latest episode of Fox’s The Passage dedicated some time to exploring both Brad Wolgast (Mark-Paul Gosselaar) and Amy Bellafonte’s (Saniyya Sidney) pasts rather than rushing them out of Project Noah. “You Are Like The Sun” did well to expand upon their unique origins without putting audiences through the fatigue of a whole episode of flashbacks.
Generally, flashback episodes tend to do the worst for ratings, but that’s only because fans aren’t interested in the past. Of course, when flashbacks are integrated into the ongoing story, switching back and forth between timelines isn’t all that bad.
In the first flashback of episode seven, audiences get to see how Brad’s daughter wound up dead. She didn’t die from some terminal illness or a car accident, it was actually a robbery gone wrong.
Back in 2016, Lila, Brad, and Ava Wolgast were living happily together. They had big plans for the future, some of which included Eva becoming a great soccer player. One of their games is supposed to end with a celebratory party but Lila is called into work. Eva becomes distraught by the unfortunate call but daddy Brad is there to save the day.
Brad decides he can keep the party going and do everything that Lila promised to—a thought he later regrets.
Once the game is done and it’s time for Brad to host the party, Ava reminds him that they forget the markers. Brad runs over to the liquor store across the street from the pizza parlor but doesn’t take his wallet him. He’s about to run back when he sees Ava crossing the street.
Ava is close to the convenience store when a customer pulls out a gun and begins robbing the place. Brad tries to keep the situation calm but Ava surprises the burglar by opening the door. The criminal fires randomly at the door, killing Ava in the process.
Back in the present day, Brad and Lila deal with the agents who kidnapped them in “I Want To Know What You Taste Like”. They’re special assassins hired by Guilder (James Le Gros) who want Brad out of the picture.
The good news is that Clark Richards (Vincent Piazza) arrives in time to save Lila and Brad from the hitmen. Keep in mind that getting back into Project Noah—and escaping with Amy—will be a whole nother ordeal that Richards and Sykes (Caroline Chikezie) might not be able to help with.
