Did Netflix remove Hawaii Five-0?

If you sat down to watch Hawaii Five-0 on Netflix, you will have been in for a shock. Netflix surprisingly removed the series from its library.

Hawaii Five-0 fans had the perfect way to rewatch their favorite episodes thanks to Netflix. The previous eight seasons were on the service and many fans were looking forward to the addition of season 9 later this year. However, Netflix has surprisingly removed the show from the service.

Fans turning on Netflix for the Hawaii cop drama on Feb. 24 wouldn’t have found the show anywhere. Without any warning (it wasn’t on any list of shows leaving the service this month), Netflix removed the series. All eight seasons (that’s almost 200 episodes) were gone.

It’s pretty safe to say that Hawaii Five-0 season 9 won’t be on Netflix in the summer. That is unless the removal was a mistake, but it doesn’t seem likely.

While Netflix hasn’t shared why the show was removed, it’s likely linked to CBS All Access and licensing agreements coming to an end. When the initial agreement for Hawaii Five-0 on Netflix was set up, CBS All Access was just a pipe dream. Now that CBS has its own streaming service, it doesn’t make all that much sense to have the show on third-party service.

This doesn’t bode well for other CBS shows in the future. We may find the likes of NCIS and Blue Bloods being removed from Netflix in the near future as their licenses expire.

This is certainly a sign of things to come with the addition of new streaming services from networks and other companies. Disney has started removing some of its movies and shows (and made it clear that Captain Marvel is the first Disney movie never to reach the streaming service) and Warner Studios is looking at removing Friends, The Big Bang Theory, and more in the future.
