Best known for playing Liam McPoyle on the ever funny It’s Always Sunny In Philadelphia,  Jimmi Simpson stars in the upcoming installment of Into The Dark entitled Treehouse. Find out more about Into The Dark: Treehouse in our trailer breakdown below.

Warning! Potential spoilers for Into The Dark: Treehouse follow. You’ve been warned.

While the cast of Blumhouse’s Into The Dark series hasn’t seen any A-listers join the ranks, we’re seeing more and more familiar faces with each passing installment.

In the upcoming horror entitled “Treehouse”, Jimmi Simpson of It’s Always Sunny In Philadelphia will star as the series lead. He’s just one of many notable actors who’ve made appearances—names that include Dermot Mulroney, Carly Chaikin, Nyasha Hatendi, Dale Dickey, Ray Santiago, and Stephanie Beatriz.

Fans will recognize Beatriz’s name from her part on NBC’s Brooklyn Nine-Nine. She’ll make her Into The Dark debut in the next installment so it should be interesting to see what role she plays in Treehouse.

As for Treehouse itself, the story revolves around celebrity chef Peter Rake (Simpson) trying to escape a wave of negative publicity. Rake finds himself in this inopportune position and is then forced to flee in a hurry. Though, Rake’s getaway to his family’s vacation estate doesn’t turn out the way he hoped.

Rather than finding a house full of good memories, everything in Rake’s family home seems to bring back bad memories. And Agnes (Nancy Linehan Charles), the home’s caretaker, isn’t too happy with Peter’s return either. All these factors make Peter’s trip more hectic but it’s what he finds in his old fort that’s truly terrifying.

The house in question isn’t much of a treehouse—it’s more like a secondary house built behind the main property. Of course, the tree-house hasn’t been as well maintained and something dark inhabits it now.

The trailer shows Peter Rake investigating only to find ritualistic altars set up in his old refuge. A montage of quick shots follow but they don’t give us clear images. What they do reveal, however, is that a coven of witches is using the structure as their ritual site—at least according to Peter.

Dialogue from Peter indicates that he fears witches have transformed the manor into their home base. It’s unclear if he’s uncovered a sinister plot or if the witches are just a figment of his imagination. Either way, the situation doesn’t look good for Peter Rake.

To us, the concerns Peter possesses sound legitimate. I mean, unless everything he’s seen is just a delusion, Peter will become the unwitting victim of an evil witch’s spell. Perhaps Lillith (Mary McCormack) or Marie (Shaunette Renee Wilson) are the ones leading the sacrilegious charge. Keep in mind that every prior installment of Into The Dark has misled us up to the very end so don’t hold us to that theory.
