Grey’s Anatomy season 15, episode 13 recap: I Walk The Line
By Ariba Bhuvad
Can Owen ever catch a break on Grey’s Anatomy? Here’s a look at everything that happened in season 15, episode 13.
Grey’s Anatomy trekked forward with a strong focus on Meredith and DeLuca’s new romance on this week’s episode, “I Walk The Line”. But not everything was rainbows and butterflies, unfortunately, as Owen and Amelia had to deal with Betty, er Brittany’s, real parents. Fifteen seasons in, and I can’t believe that Owen has yet to have some semblance of a happy ending. Perhaps by the series finale?
This week’s episode started off with DeLuca trying to convince Meredith to go on a real date. She’s not too keen on agreeing just yet because she has to talk to Maggie. Because, well, you remember her and DeLuca’s fling, right? Unfortunately, Maggie was a bit preoccupied dealing with an unexpected patient–her med school nemesis. This woman had a complicated issue but had been turned away by everyone else, and it seemed like Maggie didn’t think she could pull off anything miraculous either.
When it comes to love, there may be a new relationship in the making–Teddy and Koracick. It comes as no surprise when Owen is a little taken aback by it. However, Teddy deserves to be happy and as much as we are skeptical about Koracick, he seems really into her. Luckily, by the episode’s end, Teddy realizes that no matter how much she loves Owen, they’re destined to be friends, and she wants to give this thing with Koracick a try (how cute was the hotel scene?).
Bailey seems to finally be back in high spirits and is starting to realize just how much Alex has taken over as the interim Chief. In fact, he’s connected with all the employees and has really set into a groove, which doesn’t sit well with Bailey.
Luckily, Richard is around to remind her that sometimes others get credit for things you start (just like he once felt with her). And despite switching around Alex’s picture on the wall of Chiefs, she finally came to her senses when Alex said he was not going to give up this job until the six-month agreement ended.
Of course, Grey’s Anatomy took a drastic turn in the midst of love and success when Amelia found out that Betty/Brittany ran away from rehab. Things got even more complicated when her parents showed up looking for their daughter. Not only did they find out that Amelia is Betty/Brittany’s legal guardian, but that they are now grandparents. Will they take Leo away? Not if Owen has anything to do with it. The custody war is on.
Meanwhile, in Meredith/DeLuca land, things were getting more difficult, aka Meredith was having a hard time ignoring him. And I mean, who can resist? Have you seen DeLuca?! Luckily, she got in the conversation with Maggie at some point and walked out of the hospital with DeLuca’s hand in hers. Let’s see how this thing goes.

Speaking of Maggie, she pulled off an impossible surgery with Meredith’s help and was able to insert the graft into a woman she never imagined she’d have to help. But it was an important lesson for her, and all was well by the end.
In other parts of Grey’s Anatomy, Lord of the Rings’ Billy Boyd made a guest appearance. During a festival, his son was shot and his life hung in the balance when he was brought into Grey-Sloan. But thanks to Owen and company, the son pulled through. Phew. What a jam-packed episode!
Heading into next week’s episode of Grey’s Anatomy, it appears Betty/Brittany will be rushed into Grey-Sloan, and she’s not looking so hot. Will she survive? Will she die? Amelia’s reaction in the promo doesn’t look very promising–but we shall find out.
