Lucifer showrunner Joe Henderson confirmed that Lucifer season 4 episodes will be longer than when they were on Fox, giving fans exactly what they want — more Lucifer.

When it was announced that Netflix would save Lucifer after it was canceled on Fox, it was natural to expect a few changes to the series. The good news is that the first big change to Lucifer on Netflix is that the episodes will be a little bit longer, according to a report from Express.

Lucifer showrunner Joe Henderson confirmed the longer run time on Twitter in a reply to a fan. We’re hoping each episode of season 4 is expected to be just under an hour each, like the episode Henderson was referring to in the tweet. We can’t confirm every episode will be longer just yet.

This is a brilliant move from Netflix, as it always feels like episodes of the show are a little too short, especially in the second and third season.

One of the more interesting things about the series is how good the criminal procedural aspect of the series is. Once you strip down the whole, you know, devil thing, some of the cases are better written than those on established criminal procedural series.

By making episodes of the series a litter bit longer, Netflix is basically giving the fans exactly what they want — more time for character development as well as allowing for the plot of each episode not to be rushed.

After all, how many mysteries in the later seasons were quickly pushed aside with one “what do you desire” question instead of a thorough investigation? Yes, fans want as much Morningstar/Decker screentime as possible, but it’s not a real Lucifer episode unless we get Ella reenacting a crime scene while everyone around her is uncomfortable, right?

The added time allows for additional scenes that should placate fans who want an hour of nothing but Lucifer and Chloe as well as those who enjoy the series for other reasons like the mysteries, the lore and even the jokes.
