Netflix acquired the rights to the new documentary Knock Down the House, which features Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Cori Bush, Amy Vilela and Paula Jean Swearengin.

New documentary Knock Down the House, the winner of the Fan Favorite Award at the 2019 Sundance Film Festival, is officially headed to Netflix, according to a report from Deadline.

The documentary, directed by Rachel Lears, follows four “progressive challengers” in elections around the United States who had no political experience and started grassroots campaigns, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Cori Bush, Amy Vilela and Paula Jean Swearengin, according to Deadline. Ocasio-Cortez was elected the US House of Representatives and became the youngest to ever be elected to Congress.

According to the report, Netflix paid $10 million for the rights to stream the documentary around the world. Deadline has yet to confirm, but it appears to be the highest price paid for a documentary at a festival ever. And, it’s probably worth it for Netflix.

Knock Down the House, for the most part, is right in line with what Netflix values in a documentary. This film appeals to a wide audience, and I think most viewers will appreciate the streaming network a film like this.

We don’t know the release date for Knock Down the House yet, and we haven’t seen a trailer for the new film. Sundance did share a brief interview with Lears, and we have shared that interview below:

Knock Down the House will be one of the most popular documentaries ever; I have no doubt about that. It might not reach the Making a Murderer level, but it’ll be close.

We’ll let you know more about Knock Down the House and its release date on Netflix when we find out. Will you be watching the film on Netflix? Let us know in the comments below.
