How to Get Away with Murder aired its eleventh episode this Thursday and it was filled with tension and drama. Here’s what happened.

Could this episode have more edge-of-your-seat tension in it if it tried? How to Get Away with Murder was back on Thursday and it made us all think Bonnie was going to die! (Spoiler Alert: she didn’t).

The episode started out with Nate having his DNA taken and him being questioned by the FBI. Annalise calls him but they can’t talk for long because the agents come into the room. He makes his accusation against the governor official. He tells the agents that he believes the governor had DA Miller killed.

Nate and Bonnie

Nate and Bonnie deal with the fact that DA Miller might have been innocent in very different ways. Nate doubles down on the fact that he thinks DA Miller helped to have his father killed and Bonnie blames herself.

Once Bonnie has Annalise and him listen to the tape she discovered in the last episode, Nate immediately starts looking for evidence that he was right about DA Miller being a bad guy. And what he finds looks like that is the case. It appears that DA Miller wasn’t as truthful as he liked people to believe.

He gave the jury in Nate’s father’s case fake evidence. The evidence leads them to believe that Nate’s father had been reaching for the guard’s gun and that’s why they shot him. But, by the end of the episode, that is proven false. How this all turns out still remains to be seen but Nate doesn’t seem to be giving up anytime soon.

Bonnie, on the other hand, immediately blames herself for Miller’s death and seems to believe that they killed and innocent man. It also doesn’t help that she was in love with him too. She quickly spirals into a deep depression and attempts suicide. Luckily, Frank finds her in time and Nate and Frank reassure her of her value.

Laurel’s Worries

Once Laurel finds out about DA Miller’s murder and the fact that Bonnie was involved, she immediately goes into protective mother mode. She knows Bonnie had Christopher during that part of the night and she wants to know what he saw. She wants to know if he saw the murder.

The first thing she does is go after Bonnie. She confronts her in the law office’s parking lot but Asher steps in before it goes too far. Bonnie is already blaming herself and Laurel doing so is not doing great things to Bonnie’s mental health. But Laurel still worries.

Her main worry is that he will remember the murder or it will somehow affect him and his growth. Luckily, she has some of the best friends on the planet. They have killed people together after all. Michaela ends up telling her a story about when she was 2 years old.

She was in the room when her mother was shot and she doesn’t remember any of it, so Christopher probably won’t either. It will be interesting to see if this storyline continues and what the writers do with it.

Emmett Crawford in Trouble

Emmett Crawford has had a misconduct lawsuit hanging over his head since the beginning of the season but now with Annalise on his side, he has a chance to get out from under it. The issue is that he had a romantic relationship with one of his clients (Nora) and that’s considered unethical. The firm wants him to admit wrongdoing so that it can all go away.

Annalise has other ideas. While Emmett had every intention of putting all the blame on himself, they find another way out. They put the blame on his boss, Pierce Jensen. This all stems from the fact that Nora’s business was supposedly affected by Emmett’s relationship with her.

But as it turns out, Pierce was the one who gave her the advice to make the sale her customer’s DNA. She asked if the sale of the DNA to a pharmaceutical company was legal and he said yes,  causing all these issues to begin with. So, instead of Emmett being in the “hot seat,” they put Pierce in it.

Cliffhanger

This episode also featured Michaela regaining Tegan as an enemy and Gabriel being questioned by the FBI about his relationship with DA Miller. And that leads to this week’s cliffhanger. Gabriel Maddox ends up in jail!

The FBI know he was involved in some kind of case Miller was trying to make against Annalise, so maybe he has information on his death. What he was arrested for is still unknown, but it is certainly an interesting twist when it seemed like Nate was the one headed for prison.

How to Get Away with Murder airs Thursdays at 10 pm on ABC.
