Netflix binges: The Punisher season 2 recap
The Punisher season 2, episode 8: “My Brother’s Keeper”
This episode of The Punisher didn’t waste any time picking up exactly where the last episode left off. It starts off with Billy in the back of the car having flashbacks again of the skull and a few memories from the day at the carousel.
He is remembering what Frank said to him that day and it all becomes too much. He yells at the guys to stop the car and once out, spots Frank’s car still chasing after him. That’s when he really lets the bullets fly.
Frank’s car crashes meaning Frank has to deal with Billy on foot and that’s when he asks the question. Is Frank the person who did all this to him? Is he the one that messed up his face? And Frank being Frank, he yells that he absolutely is.
But just as they are really getting started, the cops show up, leading Billy to shoot at them and then escape in the car that came back for him. As he refuses to let him get away, Frank runs after him. Frank get waylaid by Detective Mahoney, but Curtis steps in and they leave the detective knocked out in the alley
Billy Loses His Cool
If you thought Billy was crazy before, wait until this episode. he completely loses it. Once all the guys get back to the warehouse, they start talking about how crazy Billy went and what they are going to do with the money. Billy doesn’t like what they are saying, so he shoots two of the guys in the head, But that is really nothing compared to how angry he gets when he goes back to his doctor’s place.
Once she lets him in, he pretty much wrecks her whole place. He becomes paranoid that she is going to betray him and that she is going to lie to him like he believes everyone else has. So, he goes on to throw vases, smash plates, flip couches, and toss chairs to get to the doctor and then ends up pushing her up against a window, knowing that is one of her phobias.
Luckily, she is able to calm him down but if he will stay that way and what he’ll do next is anyone’s guess
Frank Goes Wild
Proving that Frank and Billy are not so different from each other as Frank might like to think, Frank also loses his cool this episode. After the firefight, Frank realizes that Billy actually doesn’t remember what happened at the carousel.
It was clear by the look on his face that he thought Frank and him were still friends. It should have been some kind of revelation for him but it wasn’t He is still just as set on killing Billy as he ever was. But something is still…off. He doesn’t show it until they get back to the trailer.
Amy is still there and in a move that was meant to impress Frank, tries to take the gun out of his hand as he taught her. It would be an understatement to say it goes terribly wrong. He throws Amy to the ground and holds his gun to her head, asking her if she thinks this is all a game. She immediately starts crying, and if it wasn’t for Curtis, who knows what he would have done.
Frank leaves soon after to find Jake and again, Curtis has to stop him from killing the guy. Whatever usually stops Frank from going too far is not there any longer. But one thing Curtis says makes it through his rage. Curtis tells him he is acting just like Billy and that stops him. He ends up leaving and walking through the city to think.
What’s Next
This episode also featured Amy and Curtis talking about Frank and why he is the way he is, Madani thinking of turning Frank into the NYPD after Detective Mahoney threatens her, and Frank visiting his wife at the cemetery.
Billy also seems back to his normal self again, back to inspiring his crew into doing what he wants, so the next episode is sure to bring some more trouble from them. Frank is definitely going to still be searching for Billy, but how that turns out is still up in the air.
What did you think of episode 8 of The Punisher season 2? What do you think Frank’s next move is? Do you think Billy’s doctor has any alternative motives?
