The Punisher season 2, episode 12: “Collision Course”

This being the penultimate episode if The Punisher season 2, everything is being setup for the final showdown between Frank, Amy, and John Pilgrim, and Frank, Madani, and Billy. The episode started out exactly where the last episode left off.

Detective Mahoney is driving the ambulance he took Frank away in and with the way he is driving, Frank is being thrown around in the back. At first, Mahoney says he is taking Frank to the closest police precinct, but that changes pretty quick. John Pilgrim soon comes barreling at them in a police car, crashing into the side of the ambulance and shooting wildly.

Frank, being whipped across the back of the ambulance, demands Mahoney give him the keys to his handcuffs. He, of course, refuses. But all of that doesn’t matter in the end, because Mahoney is forced off the road by Pilgrim and the ambulance is sent off a bridge to the cement pavement below.

Madani quickly shows up and searches for Pilgrim, only to find that he snuck around her and ends up taking off in her car.

By some miracle, Frank and Mahoney are still alive. Frank is about to leave Mahoney there but once he sees that the ambulance is about to explode, he gets Mahoney out just in time. As Frank saved his life, Mahoney lets him leave a free man.

Frank Castle, the Kidnapper

Once Frank gets free of Mahoney, he goes to what he thinks is the source of all their issues with John Pilgrim. He goes to David Schultz’s home, punches him, and takes him back to the trailer. It’s bad enough that Frank kidnapped the guy but David also happens to be a US Senator! But, as always, Frank could not care less.

He brings David back to the trailer and interrogates him. Curtis is less than pleased. Frank wants to know how David can live with all these people’s lives on his conscience but it is clear that David doesn’t know what he’s talking about. After a few threats, Frank comes to believe him but asks him who in his life would do this. David knows right off the bat. His parents.

John Pilgrim on a Rampage 2.0

Now that Pilgrim’s wife is dead, he has nothing left to lose and it shows. Once he steals Madani’s car, he looks into her GPS and finds the last place she’s been: Curtis’s trailer. When he gets there, he finds only Curtis. He asks Curtis about Madani and what he knows about Castle and Amy’s whereabouts.

Curtis, of course, doesn’t tell him the truth and unfortunately, Pilgrim can tell. But just as Pilgrim is taking out his brass knuckles, Amy walks in telling Curtis that they freed Frank from the hospital. Worst. Timing. Ever. After a quick pause, Amy, Curtis, and Pilgrim fight. Amy grabs for the gun, Curtis grabs and beats the crap out of John Pilgrim, and Pilgrim gives as good as he gets.

Luckily, Amy is able to get out through a crawl space in the bottom of the trailer, but Pilgrim ends up leaving Curtis knocked out on the floor. Pilgrim then heads back to his place, not knowing Amy is in the trunk of his car!! She follows him to his floor with a shotgun. Whether he sees her or not is saved for the next episode.

Dumont and Madani

Madani comes over to Dr. Dumont’s place again. She says it’s to check on her but it soon becomes clear that she suspects Dumont is hiding Billy. Billy said something when he called Frank about “being his own devil now” and Madani remembered that Dumont said something very similar the last time they talked.

Dumont soon realizes that she’s been found out and excuses herself to the bathroom. With a moment to herself, Madani searches the apartment. First, she finds Billy’s dream journal and then she goes looking for Billy. But as she makes it back to the bathroom where Dumont is supposed to be, the doctor attacks her.

They fight, smashing paintings over each other and throwing anything they can find. At one point Dumont gets a knife and slices Madani’s face. They struggle some more into the living room and then Madani pushes Dumont out the window just like her father did. Billy, on his way home, sees Dumont’s body on the ground and then looks up and sees Madani’s silhouette in the window.

What’s Next

This episode also featured a genuinely happy Billy who was actually ready to give up on trying to kill Frank. Now, he is sure to go after Madani for taking away what he thought would be his happy ending.

As the next episode is the final one, it’s most likely going to include Billy confronting Madani, the final fight between Pilgrim and Frank, and hopefully, the end of all the villains.

What did you think of episode 12 of The Punisher season 2? Do you think Amy will be able to shoot John Pilgrim? Will Madani be able to defeat Billy? Where do you think Frank will end up at the end of this season?
