Fuller House has officially been picked up for a fifth season. However, it’s bittersweet news, as Netflix has decided it’s the final season for the revival series.

It’s been a good run for Fuller House. After rumors that the fourth season would be the end, the comedy revival series has landed a fifth season order. Netflix has decided this is the final season, too, according to TVLine.

The series has certainly been a ride. With plenty of throwbacks to the original series, Full House, we’ve had the chance to see DJ, Stephanie, and others all grown up with kids of their own. Last season even finally delivered us a baby for Jimmy and Stephanie (through Kimmy as the surrogate). It’s a true family affair.

Fuller House season 4’s biggest moment was Jimmy’s proposal. There were plenty of fears that Netflix would cancel the series without us ever getting to see the two get hitched. Well, that’s no longer the big fear, as the writers have time to conclude the story with the wedding event of the year.

Of course, there are plenty of wishes and wants for this final season. One hope is that Mary Kate or Ashley Olsen will agree to reprise their joint role as Michelle (due to their ages, the identical twins played one roll, which remains common for children due to child labor laws). Either one would work but with the door constantly being open for them to return, neither has shown interest.

Things may change for the final season. Even just a positive mention of Michelle would be a good way to find out what she’s up to now. However, with the firing of Jeff Franklin in February last year due to sexual misconduct, could it open the door further for the two?

Who knows! The opportunity is there and while it’s bittersweet to hear that the show is renewed for a final season, it’s also a good thing. No show can go on forever (yes, even Law & Order: SVU needs to come to an end at some point!) and ending on a high with closure is far better than trickling out to nothing.
