How to Get Away with Murder season 5 was back for it’s 10 episode and omg was it chock-filled with goodness! Take a look at what happened.

This week’s episode of How to Get Away with Murder was filled with secrets being revealed, lies being told, and plenty of drama. Last week’s episode ended with Eve on Annalise’s doorstep with the email Sam sent to his first wife about Gabriel and this episode started off almost right from there.

It began with Asher and Connor listening through the wall at what Gabriel might be doing while Bonnie, Nate, and Frank talk about what they should tell Annalise about DA Miller. Frank ends up calling Eve and Annalise tells him to bring over the file he made on Gabriel.

Annalise and Eve

While, unfortunately, nothing happens between Annalise and Eve, they do come up with a plan of dealing with Gabriel if he starts to become a bigger problem than he already is. But first, Annalise wants to know why he was kept a secret from her for all this time. Eve says she wasn’t about to bring this up right after Annalise lost her son and that she was afraid Sam would leave Annalise if he didn’t have something hanging over his head.

Besides that conversation, Eve and Annalise catch up on each other’s lives. Eve’s partner, Vanessa, just got pregnant which, while she doesn’t admit it, deeply hurts Annalise and Eve can tell. Just like she can tell Annalise is drinking again. They also talk about what would make Annalise happy. She doesn’t know herself but she’s willing and able to find out for herself.

Back on the Gabriel-blackmailing front, they (along with Frank) decide to show Gabriel that his mom might not be as drug-free as he thought. One of her exes overdosed on Oxycontin and because she works at a treatment facility, it most likely came from her. Annalise ends up using it as a way to tell Gabriel that they both want to protect his mom but she is not making it easy for them.

Annalise and Eve part on good terms but it seems like their chance at being a couple again might have already passed them by.

Bonnie and Nate

Bonnie and Nate were featured heavily in this episode and since Miller’s death is getting closer to being revealed to everyone, it’s no wonder. The first time they appear in the episode they are figuring out their false alibis. Where each other were and how they couldn’t have possibly killed Miller. But there is one flaw in their stories: Asher saw Nate talking to Miller that night.

So, they drag Asher over to Bonnie’s place and talk him through what he’s going to say once an investigation starts. What he will say when the FBI shows up and what he will say he “actually” saw.

Bonnie does her part as well but her stone-cold facade isn’t as strong as it usually is. When she gets back to work on Monday, she finds a note from Miller talking about their engagement. She then has to lie to the FBI when they question her. She’s fine until she is in her office and opens up her desk drawer to see multiple notes from Miller that she kept over their time together. That’s what finally causes her to breakdown.

Additionally, and mainly due to Asher’s suspicion of what Miller was actually using the payphone for that day he was supposedly calling for Nate’s father’s killing, Bonnie asks a colleague for the tap from a wire tap he’s running on the warden’s phone. And when she listens to it, everything falls apart because it seems like Miller did not order Nate Sr.’s death after all.

During this time, Nate is further solidifying his alibi, including beating the crap out of one of the officers who shot his father to cover up the scraps on his knuckles from when he punched Miller to death. Nate also expertly lies to the FBI, saying he would be surprised if the warden killed Miller to cover up the tracks. But then, he goes onto tell Annalise that they should blame it all on the governor. What actually happens still remains to be seen.

Gabriel

Gabriel got raked over the coals a bit this episode. He was shunned by all of his former friends for not revealing that he was Sam’s kid and is also being carefully manipulated by Annalise and her team. What he doesn’t know is that they are also worried he is going to find out they all killed his father and/or helped to cover it up. Things will really get crazy when he he finds that out.

But the biggest revelation from Gabriel this week was finding out who he left a voicemail for last week. Who was it? DA Miller! They were somehow working together as Gabriel told Miller that he had been found out by Annalise and the Keating 5. It’s still up in the air what the two could have been trying to accomplish but hopefully, we find out soon!

Wrap Up

The episode ended with Nate telling Annalise what he did and Asher telling everyone that Nate killed Miller despite being told multiple times by Bonnie and Nate to keep it to himself. Now that most of the secrets are out and Bonnie is not questioning whether Miller was actually involved in Nate’s father’s death, next week is sure to be a whirlwind.

Did Nate and Bonnie kill an innocent man? How will they come back from this one? And with Michaela turning over her wrongful death suit for Nate’s dad to Emmett and Tegan, does that mean more attention is going to be on Nate? Only time will tell!

What did you think of this week’s episode? Any theories on what’s going to happen next? Do you think everyone will make it out of this season alive?!
