Dan gets injured in The Conners mid-season premiere?

The upcoming episode of The Conners will throw in a new subplot – one involving Dan and a work injury. Peter Gallagher guest stars in “Rage Against The Machine”.

Aside from the fact that Dan (John Goodman) is looking much slimmer nowadays, he’s also brandishing a new accessory — something not of his own choosing — an arm-brace. From what we can tell, Dan will be injured in a work-related accident.

The latest promo to be uploaded to The Conners Twitter Page teased the upcoming episode with very intriguing dialogue. In it, Darlene (Sara Gilbert) and Dan are talking about suing. Then, Brian Foster (Peter Gallagher) shows up as a lawyer who suggests the Conners sue for a six figure settlement. Dan, however, doesn’t think the damage warrants such an amount.

In terms of where Dan got injured, that’s the most interesting aspect of up for debate. Dan works as a foreman on construction sites which means he’s the person accountable for workplace accidents. But since Dan isn’t the person liable, he was likely working a contracted job elsewhere. The question is, what odd job was Dan doing — and who was it for?

Additionally, the upcoming episode of The Conners will focus on the family’s New Year and Christmas celebrations. Audiences didn’t get to see how they spent their holidays before the hiatus but now we will.

Lastly, “Rage Against The Machine” also devotes some time to a conflict between Jackie (Laurie Metcalf) and Becky (Lecy Goranson). It’s nothing that will create a divide but Jackie is clearly upset over Becky going to someone else for advice.

With Roseanne out of the picture, Jackie has positioned herself as the family’s guiding hand — Becky seeking help from someone else makes that difficult for her to do. Of course, knowing Jackie, confronting Becky will put their dispute to bed.
