Need to close the year watching great films? Here are the 25 best critically acclaimed movies on Netflix right now.

Looking for a good, critically acclaimed movie to watch on Netflix? You’re in luck! Here is our ranking of the 25 best critically acclaimed movies on Netflix!

I always equate searching through Netflix to grocery shopping with an open budget. It can take hours to find the right movie for the right moment. What’s even worse is when you finally discover a film that grabs your eye, but it loses your attention in a tenth of the time it took you to locate it. It can be easier if you know what you’re in the mood for, but what if you don’t. What if you’re like me and you’re waiting for a movie to jump out and say “WATCH ME!”

Unless I explicitly know that I want to laugh or cry, learn or feel fear; my go-to category on Netflix is the critically acclaimed section, because, despite the genre, I just want to be captivated by a good story.

This “aisle in the market” is full of gems from various genres and periods, but don’t waste your time scouring through films because I’ve done the dirty work for you.

As I compiled this list of films, I did keep critical guidelines in mind. For starters, I didn’t want to just give you a list you could find on Google or Wikipedia. These picks are mostly films that haven’t been met with widespread acclaim but are profoundly immersive and entertaining from start to finish.

The goal is to introduce you to great movies that you might not have seen. Some of these flicks may have even garnered negative reviews, but nevertheless, I found them to be thought-provoking and worthwhile. Of course, the movies listed are skewed toward my taste, but what binds them together is engaging storytelling, imaginative cinematography, and an overall original direction.

With that being said, I must acknowledge that there are some well-known masterpieces on the list that I just couldn’t neglect, so if you haven’t seen them congratulations on your new discovery.
