These are the actors we’d love to see join the Stranger Things 3 cast.

Finally! The third season of Stranger Things has been confirmed! Sure, we all knew a renewal was coming, but it’s nice to know for sure. Now we have to deal with the long, long wait ‘til we can return to Hawkins once more.

In the meantime, check out this list of 15 actors we want to see in season three. Some are likely to appear, some are definitely far-fetched, but this list is all about dream-casting. Who would you like to see face off with a Demogorgon?

15. Matthew Modine

Let’s get the obvious out of the way first.

There have been some pretty heavy hints that Matthew Modine’s villainous Dr. Brenner will return in Stranger Things 3. Thank goodness, too, because I for one have really wanted to see him make an appearance as more than just a hallucination.

Modine nailed the creepy character. He has a wonderful background as a serious actor, with notable roles in films like Full Metal Jacket and The Dark Knight Rises. This kind of work probably informed his character, giving us the awesome, terrifying experience that is “Papa.” We just can’t get him out of our minds!

Thankfully for us, although his full return has (at the time of this article’s release) not yet been confirmed, there have been some pretty suspicious hints to at least a cameo appearance. Just take a look at this highly suspect Instagram post from Amy Brenneman, which contains both a Stranger Things tag as well as a picture of Modine looking remarkably Brenner-esque.

So yeah, I’d say his return is likely at this point. The Duffer Brothers would certainly be leaving us hanging if we went another season without the good doctor.

If our speculation isn’t enough to hold you over, just hold on to this quote from Matt Duffer: “I would say that if we were going to kill Brenner… as an audience member watching the show, if that was his death, that would be very unsatisfying to me—when the monster jumps on him and we cut away. He would deserve much more than that as an ending. So yes, there’s a possibility of seeing him again.”
