It’s official, Stranger Things fans. According to a report from Variety, Stranger Things 3 is officially happening at Netflix. The streaming network announced the series had been renewed for a third season.

This should be the least surprising Netflix news you’ll ever hear. The Duffer Brothers, the creators of Stranger Things, said the series had the green light for at least two more seasons following Stranger Things 2 and possibly more than that. Everyone knew this renewal was coming; Netflix had to announce it officially. Now, we just have to wait to find out when.

Netflix neglected to share any other information about Stranger Things. Typically, Netflix shares a teaser trailer, episode titles, the number of episodes or some other nugget of information when they announce renewals. Unfortunately, not this time.

So, when will Stranger Things 3 premiere on Netflix?

Unlike the regular TV networks, Netflix does not use the traditional fall, winter, spring and summer release structure. Their model is much more fluid, and they use their data to make decisions and release the shows and movies whenever it’s best.

With that said, expect Stranger Things 3 to arrive on Netflix about a year after the release of Stranger Things 2. The second installment of the Netflix original premiered on Oct. 27, 2017, so Netflix is likely considering another fall release for Stranger Things 3.

Netflix announced the Stranger Things 2 release date about nine months prior to the season’s release date. Stay tuned for more information regarding the Stranger Things 3 release date just after the new year.
