Stranger Things and Millie Bobby Brown were two of the biggest winners at the MTV Awards with the actress who played Eleven getting emotional during her acceptance speech.

Sunday’s MTV Awards were a combination of the best from TV and movies as they all converged for one big night. There was a big change to this year’s format with the categories removing the actor and actress designations and lumping woman and men in one category. The first winner of the Best Actor in a TV Show went to Stranger Things actress Millie Bobby Brown.

The actress who played Eleven on the Netflix Original series was totally deserving of the award and we’re so proud of her for the accomplishment and her acceptance speech. Watching it live, it was hard not to get emotional when the young and talented actress got emotional thanking everyone who has helped her to this point. She has such grace and humility that I can’t imagine many adults giving a better speech than the one she gave.

You can watch her acceptance speech from the MTV Awards in the clip below.

I loved how she closed when she said, “I want to thank the Duffer Brothers because they’ve created a badass, female, iconic character that I’ve got the honor to play.”

I also loved seeing her co-stars in the stands giving her a standing ovation.

That wasn’t the only big win for her on the night as Stranger Things won for Show of the Year. What made that moment extra cool was the cast of fellow Netflix Original series 13 Reasons Why were the presenters. How fitting is that?!
