Mackenzie – “The One With Princess Consuela” – S10E14

Dakota Fanning has come a long way since her brief appearance in the final season of Friends. Fanning played Mackenzie, a little girl who lives in a house that Monica and Chandler are buying. Joey wanders off as the Bings consult with the realtor, and he encounters the girl in her doll-filled bedroom.

Joey doesn’t want Monica and Chandler to move into the house, and Mackenzie doesn’t want to move out of it. Mackenzie shoots down Joey’s plan to convince his friends not to buy the house by telling them it’s haunted.

Just as Joey takes a liking to little Mackenzie, she mentions that she got to be so smart by reading a lot. In a bit of an ironic twist, Chandler tells Joey that the only 8-year-old girl that’s ever lived in that house died 30 years ago. Fanning pops up again later in the episode, responding to Joey’s request for some career advice.

Just before Fanning appeared on Friends, she caught Hollywood’s attention as Sean Penn’s daughter in I Am Sam. She also starred opposite Brittany Murphy in Uptown Girls and had a major role in the live action version of The Cat in the Hat co-starring with Alec Baldwin, another Friends alum.

She went on to become one of the few child actors who made a successful transition into an acting career as an adult, appearing in a couple of the Twilight movies along the way.
