The creators and producer for Stranger Things don’t plan on stopping making more episodes of the Netflix Original series that hooked viewers with its first season.

Stranger Things was released on July 15 and by the end of the weekend, the show had already generated so much word of mouth and hype on social media and across the internet. The supernatural series set in 1983 was a throwback to classic Stephen King and Steven Spielberg movies and completely exceeded the wildest of expectations viewers had.

The show was created by The Duffer Brothers who are destined to be directing blockbuster movies in the near future, but they don’t plan on stopping making episodes of Stranger Things. Matt Duffer spoke with IGN to say there are enough unanswered questions that they want to make more episodes.

"“We wanted to do a couple things with this season. We didn’t want to do The Killing thing. We wanted it to resolve that main thing of Will going missing in the first season. So in that sense, it is like an eight-hour movie. Now, we don’t answer all the questions by the end of the season – there are definitely some dangling threads. The hope is that it feels satisfying but that we left room and that if people respond to it we can go back into this world. But if we do get to go back, it’s not a second season as much as a sequel.”"

It’s all but a formality that Netflix will order more episodes of Stranger Things to begin to answer those burning questions left after the events of the season 1 finale. There’s just no way they would leave viewers hanging like that.

Producer Shawn Levy shared the same thoughts as Matt Duffer in comments made to slashfilm and isn’t just planning for one more season, he’s thinking several more seasons are in order.

"“We definitely are hopeful to go several more seasons. And the plan is to continue with this set of characters while introducing a few critical key new ones next season. So I’ll just say that a lot of the big mysteries get answered at the end of Season 1, but we are very much kind of unearthing new problems and questions that merit future stories and future investigation in the most enjoyable way. So we are in love with our cast and our characters."

Things end up being resolved to some extent at the end of Season 1, but not entirely. And that’s why we’re so hopeful we get another few seasons to live with these people a little longer.”

That will be music to the ears of fans of Stranger Things but as for a season 2 release date, we project they’ll have to be patient.
