Kaleidoscope recap: Blue: 5 Days Before the Heist

Episode “Blue” takes us five days before the big heist goes down at SLS. Leo tells his crew it will take seven specific jobs to accomplish the heist altogether.

The seven jobs are as follows:

  • Job #1: Copy the RF transmission codes encoded into their armored trucks so they can clone it and drive the getaway truck into the loading docks.
  • Job #2 and #3: Get passed the SLS elevator, 24/7 security cameras, and armed military guards.
  • Job #4: Use the keycard Leo has already secured.
  • Job #5: The vault hallway, which features a biometric unit, motion detection, infrared technology, and more. This multi-matrix tech can recognize a person’s walk and everything. You need to become invisible.
  • Job #6: Open the vault door and turn off the temperature sensor. Leo installed a backdoor years ago, a software patch that will allow them to disable the sensors.
  • Job #7: Crack the safe, extract the bonds, and haul them into the truck.

Once the job list is detailed, RJ asks Bob and Judy if he can get strapped before the heist. He wants a gun to protect him in case something goes wrong, but the group tells him he doesn’t need it.

Meanwhile, Leo sneaks into Roger’s home while he’s gone to get his fingerprints and other things to fool the biometric scanners. For Roger’s eyes, the team gives him a bacterial infection. Hannah makes him an eye appointment and Stan happens to step in, impersonating the optometrist, to get scans of Roger’s eyes and face.

At the warehouse where the group is making their plan, the team starts discussing how they plan to use the money. Stan wants to buy a vineyard, RJ plans to purchase a special drum set, and Bob wants to take a trip to the Bahamas. But Judy wants to go to a small town in Mexico with special meaning to her. Upon hearing this, Stan jokes that Bob will have to spend his time in the Bahamas alone and Bob flips out.

Judy manages to calm him down, but Bob says something about how they should take the bonds for themselves.

While Leo’s crew is planning the intricacies of the heist, Roger is dealing with his own drama unrelated to Leo. The triplets are nervous about keeping their bonds at SLS because the SEC and FBI have been closing in on them. Since they obtained the bonds illegally, they want to move them elsewhere and replace them with a different asset. Roger isn’t thrilled to hear this since it will be difficult to make that happen quickly.

On top of that, Roger is getting blackmailed by a former associate who he fired for being a thief. The blackmailer is a guy named Andrew working a low-paying job at an electronics store. Andrew claims he never stole anything, and he’s pissed at Roger for taking everything from him. Andrew threatens to expose Roger’s shady past to the triplets if he doesn’t give him $4.3 million in three days. Well, Roger doesn’t take kindly to threats and has one of his goons kill Andrew.

But the threat of blackmail makes Roger extra antsy, and he has his team run extra security checks on the vault. One of the guys finds Leo’s backdoor and removes it. Without the backdoor and a way to trick the temperature sensors, the heist could be completely ruined before it even starts.

Leo is pissed, especially now that he’s seen how Roger is living the high life these days while Leo has lost virtually everything due to Roger’s decisions. All he wants is to complete the heist and make them “even.” He visits a sauna where Roger happens to be and comes close to strangling him, but then it’s actually Roger who gives Leo an idea on how to trump the sensors after all (without realizing it, of course).

With Judy’s help as the resident chemist, Leo comes up with a new plan to use the incoming hurricane to the team’s advantage. If they wait for the subway tunnel to flood, they can use C4 to blow the ceiling of the vault and transfer the water to where they need it to blow the censors. Something about cesium and ionization levels.

Now that they’re back in on the heist, Leo makes it clear to his team that they can’t go home after this is over. They’re all going to get new identities. The only potential problem now is Bob’s hand, which he injured in a different episode. He and Stan might end up having to work together to crack the safe.

Kaleidoscope Blue episode ending explained

Nazaran tells Toby that she’s received a text from their “favorite mole.” If you’ve seen the episode, “Orange,” then you’ll know who the mole is already, if not I don’t want to spoil you. But thanks to this mole, Nazaran knows where the heist is going down and wants to head there fast to stake out the location and catch the group in the act.

In the final moments of “Blue,” Roger gets a call from one of the triplets, Stefan Thiele. It turns out that Stefan knows what kind of man Roger was before he started working at SLS and implies that if Roger doesn’t help them move their bonds, there will be consequences. Stefan tells Roger they will speak after the storm.

As the city is evacuated for the hurricane and things start happening, the episode builds to the final moments before the heist and Leo’s decision for them to go ahead and get going. Judy does end up giving RJ a gun before they go, just in case.

Kaleidoscope recap: Green: 7 Years Before the Heist

The “Green” episode opens up with one of our main protagonists, Ray (Esposito). We learn in the title card that it takes place seven years before the heist. In his voiceover, Ray goes by a different name — Leo. We’ll get an explanation for that by the end of the episode. Ray’s been in prison for 17 years and wants to get out, and with the help of a fellow inmate named Stan (Kendall), he actually does.

We learn a bit about Stan in prison, for example how he’s involved in some type of drug trade in and out of prison. His girlfriend, Judy (Elbay), makes these at-home laced lollipops which she brings when she visits him in prison, but it’s the SIM cards he really wants. He sells these to the inmates and seems to be pretty successful in doing so. Stan’s one of the cooks at the prison and spends a lot of time in the kitchen. Early on in the episode, we can already see some of the trouble he faces behind bars after he’s targeted by a white supremacy gang called the Peckerwoods.

Ray and Stan share a prison cell and seem to be pretty good friends as they confide in each other on personal things. For Ray’s part, he’s going through health issues that come to a head when he has an episode laying on the top bunk of a bunk bed and falls to the floor. When he visits the medic center, a Dr. Wagner tells him he could have Parkinson’s disease.

When Ray asks Stan to help him get a few items, Stan realizes he’s trying to escape prison, something he’s a little hesitant to help with. Stan only has six months left behind bars, while we don’t know how long Ray has. By the looks of it, there’s no end date for him in sight and he wants to get out now.

Stan’s operation is in jeopardy and he gets a visit from Judy and a drug dealer named Bob (Courtney), the latter of whom wants to sell drugs to Stan to sell in prison. But Stan doesn’t want to get into that; he just wants to sell the SIM cards. He feels threatened by Bob who’s a jerk and seems to maybe have a thing for Judy, which is the catalyst for Stan to want to escape prison, too.

Stan tells Ray he’s in, and their plan is quickly in motion. Here’s what goes down. In preparation for the big break-out day, Stan purposefully damages Dr. Wagner’s car while cutting the grass outside, and Ray offers to fix it at the prison’s body shop for free, leading to Ray having possession of the car keys. Ray also then fakes a coughing fit while walking with a guard, and while seemingly about to pass out, he uses some putty to imprint the guard’s key. Now that they have a way out, they just need to distract all the workers.

Stan uses magic mushrooms he’s got in the kitchen to dose the inmates in their morning oatmeal. Once they’re all high and causing a scene, that serves as a distraction. Ray’s at the medical getting an IV, and Stan cuts his hand on purpose so he can go visit the nurse, too. When word gets out that the inmates are on something, all the guards and the nurse go and see what’s going on. They even call Dr. Wagner to come.

Now, it’s showtime. Ray picks the locks on his and Stan’s handcuffs and uses keyboard cleaner to unlock the medic door, as they rush down the hallway. But there’s one big problem. The key Ray made isn’t really working, and they’re running out of time. Stan decides to serve as a distraction to one of the guards coming down the hallway, giving Ray just enough time to get out. He gets into the trunk of Dr. Wagner’s car and hides in the backseat cushions so no one can find him.

Ray’s free and out into the world now, and his first stop is at a woman named Ava’s (Vega) house in New York City. A lot of the show takes place in New York or the surrounding areas. Ava doesn’t seem too surprised to see him out of prison but is concerned when he tells her about his bad health. He wants to see his daughter Hannah (Gabrielle), but Ava thinks that’s a really bad idea. He’ll have to just leave again after seeing her, so what’s the point? He’s a fugitive; he can’t just live a normal life. But Ray is adamant that he wants to explain to Hannah why he did what he did. We can assume he means what he did that led to him being imprisoned.

It doesn’t take long for authorities to start looking for Ray, and we meet a police officer named Nazan Abassi (Niousha Noor) who’s determined to find him. We learn that she’s Ava’s a lawyer and Ray is her client.

Ray confronts Hannah outside an office building on Wall Street and asks her to talk, and she gets super emotional. As they sit outside, he seems regretful about their relationship but explains he didn’t want her to end up like him. She’s understandably upset at him for leaving her, and even says she tried to visit him in prison but was turned away. She abruptly gets up and leaves, walking back into the building and talking to a man who seems to be fond of her. This man, as we learn goes by Roger Salas (Sewell), but that’s not his real name. He’s a bad guy from Ray’s past, though Hannah doesn’t know it yet.

Kaleidoscope Green episode ending explained

The “Green” episode ends with Ray starting over. We see cops gather at a site where Dr. Wagner’s car is up in flames, and there’s a burnt, dead body that they identify as Ray. He fakes his own death, explaining to Ava that he has a friend who helped him in switching dental records, and Ava assists him in starting a new life. She gives him the name Leo Pap, which will be his identity moving forward, and we then see Hannah reading a letter he wrote her.

Ray explains in the letter that he’d been lying to Hannah her whole life, warning her that others around her, namely Roger Salas, are not who they claim to be. He’s on a mission now to make things right, and we’ll see what exactly that means in later episodes.

Kaleidoscope recap: Orange: 3 Weeks Before the Heist

We’re sent ahead into the future again with the episode “Orange,” which takes place three weeks before the big heist. In this one, we learn more about Nazan, who’s an FBI agent, and Ava. The two have a past and it catches up to them.

As the episode opens, we learn Nazan is a recovering addict and she talks about how being clean now affects her job in a positive way while sitting in an NA meeting. She was taken away from her child while she was using drugs but now is able to see him again and hopes she can work towards joint custody eventually. Over at the station, Nazan learns that they found a fingerprint match in the Diamond Way case and it belongs to Ava. This piques her interest in the case and she’s unable to let it go.

As we catch up with the heist group, we follow Ava as she goes to sell the jewelry they stole on Diamond Way, and Bob proves he’s still extremely annoying. Bob invites himself to go with Ava and is frustrated when she can only get $400,000 for the jewels. But she takes it and keeps moving.

Meanwhile, the rest of the group prepares for the heist, with Leo and RJ discussing ways to find a duplicate armor car to get through security, while Stan asks Judy to go with him to get a fake safe they can practice on. Ava takes a tour of the building they’re targeting while pretending to be a woman named Mallory with a blonde wig. She rents office space and gets to meet Roger Salas.

Thanks to RJ, the group is able to get a digital blueprint of the building after he tracked the plumbing system, while Ava confides in her loved one Teresa, who lives with her, and asks if they should move out of New York City.

After Nazan hears the news about Ava’s fingerprints, she remembers interviewing her before and takes old out tapes to listen to. She believes Ava lied to the police years prior and actually knew where Ray was when he escaped prison. The FBI brings Ava in and Nazan watches from the other room as she’s questioned. When they tell Ava they found a fingerprint match at the scene, Ava has a convenient explanation. She says she reported two of her guns missing weeks before so she’s not surprised they were used for criminal activity. Of course, this is a lie, but a pretty solid one.

But just because Ava has one good lie doesn’t mean she’s off the hook. Ava confides in Leo and tells him Nazan is back, and they both seem pretty worried. Ava eventually decides she’s dropping out of the heist because it’s too dangerous with Nazan watching her.

Nazan is told by higher-ups to stay away from Ava, and we finally learn what happened between the two years ago. When Nazan was using drugs, Ava made a formal complaint against her which was part of the reason she was suspended. At the time, Ava claimed Nazan seemed to be under the influence, and apparently, her failure to listen to Ava led to one of Ava’s client’s death. This case is personal for Nazan, which is why she’s not allowed to work it. But of course, that doesn’t stop her.

Nazan starts following Ava and snaps photos outside of her apartment when she sees Bob show up. Over at the station, Nazan flirts with another FBI agent, Samuel, and she explains to him what she thinks Ava is up to. She tells him that Bob is a known safe cracker and shows him his injured hand in the photos. She knows that Bob is married to a woman named Judy, whose dad is a chem professor. They checked into a place in New York 10 days before the Diamond Way incident and still haven’t checked out. Nazan concludes that they’re here for something bigger, and perhaps their jewelry heist was just to help them out while they prepare for what’s next.

Of course, Nazan’s theory is pretty spot-on, and she continues to follow Ava and Bob. She watches while Bob meets Judy and Stan at a bar and as they argue out in the street. Bob gifts Judy the butterfly bracelet he stole from Diamond Way, which is sure to come back to bite them now that Nazan is there snapping photos. She also now has Stan on her radar, and she explains to Samuel what the connection is there.

After looking Stan up, Nazan discovers Stan was Ray’s cellmate in prison, which can’t just be a coincidence. While Nazan believes Ray is really dead, she thinks he might’ve had a partner who’s still involved.

We then get a chase scene when Nazan learns about some kind of event going on in Bushwick that Ava will be attending. (Fun fact: the party’s said to be on Bogart and Johnson streets, which is a block away from Netflix’s real-life New York City studio). Desperate to find evidence against Ava, Nazan goes but it turns out to be a setup. She shows up at the warehouse party which is some type of art exhibit, where people are openly doing drugs. As she follows a woman who looks like Ava from the back, she runs through the party and out into the street where she pulls out her gun and points it at the woman. The woman turns around and is not Ava after all, and cops swarm her. They find a bag of drugs in Nazan’s pocket, which someone planted.

This, of course, is all a trick set up by Ava to get Nazan off her case. It’s pretty ruthless, but it’s what Ava feels she has to do. That said, Ava doesn’t get off that easily.

Kaleidoscope Orange episode ending explained

We see police cars arrive at Ava’s and they take away Teresa, who we later find out was Ava’s nanny growing up. When Ava gets home and discovers Teresa gone, she gets a phone call and meets up with Nazan.

Nazan gives Ava a choice — either flip and become an informant for the FBI or she’ll have Teresa deported back to her country by ICE. It’s another ruthless move, this time on Nazan’s part. So what does Ava choose?

As the episode comes to a close, we see Nazan at another NA meeting while Teresa returns home and embraces Ava. This means Ava chose Teresa over her heist crew, which is understandable. This also means she now has to become a mole for the FBI.

As for Nazan’s part, she seems on cloud nine as she makes out with Samuel at work, and the final scene shows Ava going to see Leo and telling him she wants back in. He smiles and nods, happy to have her back. Of course, he has no idea the implications, as now Ava will be reporting on what they’re doing to the FBI.

But will Ava play both sides? We’ll find that out in a future episode.

Kaleidoscope recap: Pink: 6 Months After the Heist

In the aftermath of the heist, everyone is in hiding. Ava and Leo are together, Stan and Judy are in South Carolina, and Roger has since ended up in jail. Bob is alive, but badly injured. He can barely talk. He visits Roger in jail and asks for money in exchange for hunting down Leo and getting Roger revenge. Roger accepts. Bob is determined to kill Leo and Stan, and find Judy.

He and his goons track Ava and Leo down. Leo isn’t doing well at all. His Parkinson’s has progressed significantly. Ava and Theresa are the ones who engage in a firefight with Bob and his guys, but they eventually overpower them.

When Leo comes out to help, they take all three captive, forcing them to give up Stan and Judy’s location or die. Bob tells his men to shoot the women first and make Leo watch if he doesn’t return in time.

Stan and Judy have been running low-level cons with the little money they got from the heist. But they’re almost out of cash and running out of options. They reach out to Leo for more cash, which is how he knows where they are.

Luckily for them, the FBI intercept Bob before he can find them and take him down. But Judy finds his money and steals it, implying she’s going to bail on Stan and disappear on her own.

Back at Leo’s, the trio escapes, but Ava is shot and killed by one of Bob’s guys in the scuffle. She dies in Leo’s arms.

Leo finally reaches out to Hannah after. She’s doing well with her newborn baby daughter, but she and Leo haven’t seen each other in a long time.

Kaleidoscope Pink ending explained

Leo visits Roger in jail. We learn he has 20 years, though he’ll likely get out in eight. The reasoning for Leo’s visit seems mainly to give both of them closure. Roger admits he’s not sure if he could have saved Lily or not during their old heist.

In the final moments of the episode, a man follows Leo into a tunnel and appears to shoot him dead.

Kaleidoscope recap: Red: The Morning After the Heist

It’s the morning after the heist, and it looks like nothing went according to plan. Leo’s opening voiceover laments the moments when everything started going wrong, and the episode begins with the crew meeting up at their headquarters, only to discover that several people are missing. Only Judy and Leo are there, and none of them trust each other right now. None of them have the bonds, and they don’t know where they are at the moment. Stan shows up next after taking an Uber.

Elsewhere, Roger shows up in a panic at SLS after seeing people breaking into the vault on his security feed. Hannah arrives moments later. They prepare to do whatever it takes to track down the people who broke in. Hannah notices the last six hours of video have been wiped and the security guys, like Carlos, are knocked out. There are still some bees around, and the vault is flooded.

The FBI arrives at SLS and, for now, Hannah and Roger pretend that everything is fine and that it was a false alarm because they don’t want the triplets to find out what happened. Nazaran wants to inspect the building, but Roger tells her to get a warrant if she wants to come inside and take a look. Things get worse for Roger because Stefan calls him and we learn the triplets want to move the bonds out of the vault. That might be a problem since they’re missing!

Back at the headquarters, Stan remembers he dropped his glasses under the water. Roger found them and used them to figure out that his “doctor” wasn’t who he claimed to be.

Carlos shows up at Stan’s house to find out where he is, using Barbara’s “find my phone” app to track him. He shoots both Barbara and Stan’s mom, leaving them for dead.

Ava finally makes it to the meet-up. She’s hurt but seems to be okay. They pull out the drawers containing the vault from the van but quickly realize almost all of the bonds have been replaced with random bits of colored paper. They only got away with a few. Someone duped them. Tensions rise, and everyone ends up pulling guns on each other until Carlos and his men arrive and give the group a common enemy again.

Kaleidoscope Red ending explained

At the end of the episode, Leo, Judy, Stan, and Ava escape with their few bonds onto a boat to go on the run with their new identities. Meanwhile, at SLS, Nazaran returns with a warrant and forces Roger to take them into the vault, including his personal vault. Inside, they find something that seems to spell trouble for Roger. Nazaran asks why Roger has “that” in his vault. You’ll find out what it is in the “White” episode.

Kaleidoscope recap: Violet: 24 Years Before the Heist

The next episode on our list is “Violet,” which takes place 24 years before the heist! We’re going back in time to see what drove Ray and Roger apart and what sent Ray to prison.

“Violet” opens up with Ray and Roger working together on a con, and we soon meet Ray’s wife Lily, and a very young Hannah. They seem to be a perfectly happy family, though Ray struggles with his line of work. Although the cons with Roger bring in a lot of money, is it worth continuing when he has so much to lose? Roger goes by Graham at this point, so we have to guess that perhaps Graham is his real name and he might’ve changed it to Roger.

One night when Roger and a date named Courtney come over to Ray and Lily’s for dinner, Ray confides in Roger and says he wants to stop all the criminal work. Roger seems surprised and disappointed, also revealing to the viewer that the two of them have been at it for 15 years together. Despite Roger’s reaction, Ray is set on his decision.

Ray moves on from the con life and starts his own auto parts business, and his family seems happy. But the bad news is they’re in debt. They can’t make their loan payments in time, though they’re determined to make things work. One day, Roger pays Ray a visit to his store and tells him he wants to get back into the cons. He says he’s in financial trouble and can suspect Ray needs the money, too. Ray doesn’t seem to want to budge, however.

But one fateful afternoon changes everything. After work, Ray goes to pick up Lily and Hannah at the country club where Lily works as an accountant. Unfortunately, a whole scene goes down when security makes rude and extremely racist remarks targeted at Ray and his family. Ray doesn’t let it go, understandably, and yells at security, getting Lily fired in the process. After this, Ray agrees to work with Roger again, but lies to Lily about his plans.

Ray knows the country club is hosting a charity auction featuring very old, very expensive jewelry, and he tells Roger that’s their next target. The two men plan the con pretty quickly, and just like that, we see another heist unfold.

But things don’t go according to plan. Just as Ray and Roger are planning to go to the country club, so is Lily. Unexpectedly, her former boss calls her up while she’s at home with Hannah and says they need her help with invoices. She heads over there and gets to work, putting on headphones to make it more relaxing. Meanwhile, Ray is able to break into the room with the safe full of precious jewels and starts replacing them with fakes as he stashes the real ones in his bag.

Unfortunately, Ray is ultimately caught by security, but Roger comes in, and they’re able to knock the worker out. From there, Roger sets a fire to distract the charity attendees and buy them more time to steal the jewels. This really doesn’t give them much more time, however, as they have to get out fast to avoid the flames. When they get out to the parking lot unscathed, Ray sees Lily’s car parked outside and realizes she’s inside. Remember, she had her headphones in, so there’s a chance she doesn’t notice the fire before it’s too late.

Ray runs back into the club, looking for Lily, but when he finds her, he can’t get to her easily. He looks up and sees Roger, who’s close enough to Lily to grab her, but instead, he flees when he hears the police sirens. This is very clear, and understandably, the catalyst for their falling out. Ray finally gets to Lily, and he holds her while he waits for the fire department to come help.

Kaleidoscope Violet episode ending explained

“Violet” ends with Ray and Hannah sitting at the hospital waiting to hear any news about Lily. Ray knows it won’t be long until he’s caught for what he did that night, and he’s come up with a plan to keep Hannah safe. As a detective walks in, so does Ava, and Ray explains to Hannah that she must go walk over to Ava and leave with her. Hannah asks about her mom, and we still don’t know if Lily will survive or not. In the viewing order of this recap guide, we don’t have confirmation as to what happens to Lily. But it doesn’t look good.

As Hannah leaves with Ava, Ray is arrested and put in handcuffs. That’s how “Violet” comes to a conclusion, and of course, we have so many questions as to what happens next. What we do know is this is what puts Ray in prison, and this is why Ava starts to look after Hannah.

Kaleidoscope recap: White: The Heist

It’s the moment of truth, the day of the heist. Everything appears to be going well, and the heist starts off perfectly. Problems don’t arise until the moment when Judy is trying to prepare the vault for flooding it with water. It comes down to the wire with Ava noting that they need to blow the ceiling, whether that means harming Judy in the process or not.

Luckily, RJ arrives in time to help Judy, and they get out of the tunnel just as Ava pulls the trigger and causes the explosion that floods the vault.

After that, Stan and Bob get into one of the safes and successfully move the bonds inside. Hannah takes them and swaps them into various FedEx envelopes.

Things quickly go haywire from there. Bob bails on the group after they finish the first safe, leaving Stan to finish on his own. Stan gets the safe open but it triggers some sort of failsafe that causes a cage to come down. Everyone gets out before becoming trapped in the vault, albeit barely. Leo has to put a device between the cage doors to create an opening.

Meanwhile, Bob tries to leave with Judy, attacking RJ in the process when he sees him. Using the gun Judy gave him, RJ shoots Bob, and then Judy shoots RJ, seemingly killing him.

Stan arrives and sees Judy and Bob planning to bail. Bob and Stan get into a fight/shootout, and Judy suddenly switches teams to protect Stan. She strangles Bob with a crowbar and leaves him to die in the street.

As for Nazaran, it turns out that Ava has remained loyal to Ray and his crew. She tricks the FBI agent into going to a different floor with fake gunfire and a text message. And while Nazaran quickly realizes they’ve been duped, she does notice a fake wall that leads to security footage. Noticing the feedback loop created by the crew, Nazaran unhooks everything so they can see the real heist occurring 50+ floors below.

Triggering the security also allows Roger to see what is happening at home. While hanging out with his son (who happens to be wearing the same shirt as the man who kills Leo in the “Pink” episode), the cameras cut to the real robbery and Roger jumps into action.

Kaleidoscope White ending explained

At the end of the episode, we find out that Hannah ran a second job during all of this. She doesn’t want to be Leo’s inside man anymore than she wanted to be Roger’s VP. Hannah was actually working with Stefan Thiele. She stole the bonds to give back to him, effectively washing the money (laundering) and returning it to him because she feared what the triplets would do to her dad.

Then in the final moments of the episode, Leo returns to the vault to leave behind one of the jewels from the heist he and Roger pulled, the one that resulted in Lily’s death. If you recall from the end of “Red,” Nazaran and Toby see that Roger put something in his safe. We can assume that the jewel is what led to Roger getting arrested and going to jail. That’s why Leo found it so important to get into that safe, so he could ensure Roger went down.

Kaleidoscope recap: Yellow: 6 Weeks Before the Heist

As much as we want to see how Ray begins his new life as Leo, we’ll have to wait a bit for that. “Yellow” takes place years into the future, and we’re told it’s six weeks before the big heist. From now on in this episode recap, we’ll call Ray by his new name, Leo, to avoid confusion.

“Yellow” shows us how the idea of the heist is born and how Leo is able to get a full crew together. He first proposes the plan to Stan, who’s out of prison now and working as a butcher in Philadelphia. He’s no longer dating Judy and is now with a woman named Barbara, who doesn’t seem too fond of him. Leo tells Stan there’s a heist that’s valued at $7 billion, and even Stan cannot say no to that number.

Leo explains that there’s a vault underground worth $7 billion, owned by a group of powerful people dubbed “The Triplets” which includes Cho-young-woo, Suzanne Grosvenor, and Stefan Thiele. The three apparently control half a trillion dollars, and Leo wants to break in to steal their bonds in a couple of months. He explains that all they need is each over, a driver, a forger, security, and a chemist. And as we know from the episode “Green,” Stan definitely knows a chemist.

While Leo and Stan begin to construct their crew, we learn more about Hannah’s job. Working for Roger, she helps keep the vaults in their office secure, whether that means elaborate ploys to evaluate a competitor’s security or keeping a close eye on any potential breaches. She works at the same building Leo wants to rob. She’s up for a Junior VP role, plus we learn that she’s pregnant.

Stan’s ex-girlfriend Judy proves to still be an important character in the show, even though she’s now dating Bob, and Stan and Leo ask her to help with their heist. As a chemist, Judy can make drugs that could distract the security guards. Unsurprisingly, Bob wants in too, and says he can crack the safe. And just like that, they’re in.

Leo then goes to visit Ava at her place and she surprises him by saying she wants in, assuring him she can serve as security on the job. Leo doesn’t understand why she’d want to be involved, but she then shows him her basement full of guns and tells him it’ll be payback for an IOU she’s had for him.

Next, they need a driver. Leo suggests a young man named RJ who works under him at a body shop, and he’s pretty easily persuaded. While the full group is all together they realize that one problem they have off the bat, however, is that they don’t really ever get along. They also realize they’re going to need $350,000 worth of equipment to pull the heist off, which they don’t have. But before giving up, Bob proposes they go to Diamond Way, a street full of high-end jewelers in New York City, to steal some diamonds.

We then see their first heist as a group play out. Some are in disguise while RJ, of course, is the getaway driver. They plant smoke grenades in garbage cans along the street and as they go off, pedestrians are distracted and start to run away while the group also tases people. They throw more explosives into the stores and go inside to get some illegal shopping in as quickly as possible. It’s a close call when Bob gets greedy and holds them up, but they’re able to steal a ton of jewelry without getting caught, which is a win. Though it’s not without casualties.

Kaleidoscope Yellow episode ending explained

The ending of “Yellow” concludes with Hannah, as it’s revealed she’s also part of Leo’s plan. As it was teased earlier, Leo has eyes on the inside for the heist, and that would be his daughter. This is proven when she frames her coworker Andrew for a supposed security breach, and she ends up getting his job as Senior VP.

Hannah meets with her father, and though she’s going to help him, she’s hesitant. She warns him about The Triplets and how dangerous they are, and Leo seems surprised by her worry. He asks if anything else is going on and she says no, which isn’t entirely true because we know she’s pregnant. But Leo doesn’t know that yet. The two embrace and confirm they’re in this together.
