When it comes to TV shows, there's absolutely nothing better than a good heist TV show. A team of misfits, strangers, or best friends coming together to rob, usually, very rich people and steal priceless jewels, gems, and works of art? Count me in seven days a week!

Luckily, Netflix has cranked out more than a few great heist shows that are available to stream right now, including Berlin, Lupin, and Money Heist.

Let's get the list of the best heist shows on Netflix started with the most recent addition, Berlin, a spinoff of Money Heist, also known as La Casa de Papel.

  • Seasons: 1
  • Release Date: Dec. 29, 2023
  • Creator: Álex Pina and Esther Martínez Lobato
  • Cast: Pedro Alonso, Tristán Ulloa, Michelle Jenner, Begoña Vargas, Julio Peña Fernández, Joel Sánchez, and Maria Isabel "Masi" Rodríguez

Berlin just premiered on Netflix at the end of December 2023, and it's one of the most popular Netflix shows in the world to kick off the new year. The Spanish series is actually the prequel to Money Heist, and it focuses on Berlin, also known as Andrés de Fonollosa (Pedro Alonso). I don't want to get into spoilers for Money Heist, especially because it's also on this list, but Berlin focuses on a small group of thieves who are planning an epic heist in Paris. They're going to steal from some of the richest people in Europe in one night.

Come for the adrenaline of a thrilling heist, and stay for one of the best examples of pacing, character building, story, and performance in a Netflix original series. It's truly remarkable what Pina and Lobato pulled off with this story. If you're also a fan of cinematography and stunt sequences, Berlin is beautiful. You can't go wrong with this series on Netflix!

We're still waiting on Berlin season 2 news! Stay tuned.

Lupin

  • Seasons: 3
  • Release Date: Jan. 8, 2021
  • Creator: George Kay and François Uzan
  • Cast: Omar Sy, Ludivine Sagnier, Antoine Gouy, Soufiane Guerrab, Shirine Boutella, Etan Simon, and more

Lupin is premiered on Netflix in January 2021, and it was an instant hit for the streamer. The French Netflix original series was actually the most-watch non-English series in Netflix history for a time until a little show called Squid Game was released later in the year. To me, Lupin is one of the best heist TV shows of all time. It's definitely the best heist show that Netflix made.

In the series, Omar Sy stars as Assane Diop, a man who seeks revenge on a billionaire for the imprisonment and death of Assane's father. Assane is inspired by the famous gentleman thief, Arsene Lupin, from the many works of author Maurice Leblanc.

There are three seasons of Lupin streaming on Netflix right now! We're still hopeful that a fourth season of Lupin is in the works on Netflix, but we haven't heard the official word yet. Stay tuned for more news about Lupin season 4. It sounds like everyone is ready to film another. And, no spoilers, but Lupin season 3 ends on a killer cliffhanger. I really need it to happen, and I hope enough viewers will tune in to watch!

Money Heist

  • Seasons: 5
  • Release Date: May 2, 2017
  • Creator: Álex Pina
  • Cast: Úrsula Corberó, Álvaro Morte, Itziar Ituño, Pedro Alonso, Paco Tous, Alba Flores, Miguel Herrán, Jaime Lorente, Esther Acebo, Enrique Arce, María Pedraza, Darko Perić, Kiti Mánver, Hovik Keuchkerian, Luka Peroš, Belén Cuesta, Fernando Cayo, Rodrigo de la Serna, and Najwa Nimri

Money Heist is the heist show that started it all for Netflix. The Spanish series premiered in Spain in May 2017, after it was quite successful, Netflix picked up the series as a Netflix original series and produced more episodes of the hit show.

Also known as La Casa de Papel, Money Heist tells the story of a mysterious man, called The Professor (Álvaro Morte), who puts a team of criminals together to pull off the biggest heist in the history of Spain. They're robbing the Spanish Royal Mint of billions!

There are five seasons (or parts) of Money Heist to stream on Netflix right now. The series came to an end in 2021, but if you were there for it, you remember because it was a moment.

If you like heist shows, I'd start with this one, especially if you plan on watching Berlin on Netflix. You actually don't have to watch Money Heist first, though.

Criminal Code

  • Seasons: 1
  • Release Date: Nov. 14, 2023
  • Creator: Heitor Dhalia
  • Cast: Rômulo Braga, Maeve Jinkings, Alex Nader, Rafael Zulu, Thomás Aquino, and more

Criminal Code, also known as DNA Do Time, is a Brazilian Netflix original series. It follows the investigation from detectives and a special unit trying to find the members of a mysterious gang involved and responsible for a string of heists and prison breaks in Brazil and Paraguay. It's actually inspired by a true story, but it takes certain liberties for dramatic purposes.

After a prison break leaves his partner dead, Benicio (Rômulo Braga), a federal police officer, begins tracking the movements of others involved while hellbent on find a man named, Soulless, who killed his partner. I hadn't seen a thrilling series like this one on Netflix in a long time (until I watched Berlin about a month later). If you like heist shows with criminal organization elements, along with law enforcement's ensuing investigation, Criminal Code is absolutely a must-watch on Netflix.

There is one season of Criminal Code available to stream on Netflix right now, but there's already a second season of Criminal Code in the works. Netflix renewed the series for season 2 less than one month after the series premiered. You know it's a popular show when that happens. We'll keep you posted on the status of Criminal Code season 2. Most likely, it won't return until late 2024 at the very earliest.

Criminal Code is also on the list of the best Netflix action shows of 2023!

KALEIDOSCOPE_White_Unit_03465RC

Kaleidoscope

  • Seasons: 1
  • Release Date: Jan. 1, 2023
  • Creator: Eric Garcia
  • Cast: Giancarlo Esposito, Rufus Sewell, Paz Vega, Rosaline Elbay, Jai Courtney, Tati Gabrielle, and Peter Mark Kendall

Kaleidoscope was the first Netflix show released in 2023. The series premiered on the first day of the year, and it definitely intrigued fans all over the world. The series can actually be watched in any order, and it still makes sense, which is really interesting as a concept, but I don't know, necessarily, if it lived up to the hype. The series has an incredible cast, led by Giancarlo Esposito.

The series tells the story of Leo Pap, played by Esposito, who organizes an epic heist to steal $7 billion. I think that's the most amount of money involved in any of the shows on this list, but when you're trying to steal that kind of money, there's always lots and lots of drama.

Kaleidoscope is my least favorite of the shows on this list. It's pretty polarizing. It's not that the show isn't good or doesn't feature incredible performances or anything like that. It's just not my favorite.

Kaleidoscope season 2 is not happening at Netflix, but you can watch all eight episodes of the series on Netflix right now.

That's the of the best heist shows on Netflix! We'll update the list as Netflix releases more shows worthy of joining the list.
