Dexter Morgan (Hall) is a blood splatter analyst for the Miami Metro Police Department by day but by night, he’s the world’s most likable serial killer.

How can a serial killer be likable?

Well, when you’re hunting, tracking and killing other killers and criminals like Dexter does, he’s quite endearing and you find yourself rooting for him to succeed in his kill. Of course, there’s a code he must abide by that was instilled in him at a young age by his father Harry (Remar) who we see in flashbacks and through visions from Dexter.

Dexter’s sister Deb (Carpenter) also works at the Miami Metro Police Department as a rising star in the force but is none the wiser when it comes to her brother’s dark secret. But how long until someone at the force learns about Dexter’s double life?

This is a stark contrast to the previous role Hall had on television when he played a gay funeral director on HBO’s Six Feet Under and his portrayal of the serial killer with a code was one of the more fascinating roles in recent television history.
