39. Grey’s Anatomy

Release Year: 2005

Creator: Shonda Rhimes

Starring:  Ellen Pompeo, Justin Chambers, Chandra Wilson, Patrick Dempsey, Sandra Oh, Katherine Heigl

A drama set inside a hospital is not a new concept. It’s as standard as a drama set in a courtroom, school or police station, but Grey’s Anatomy was more than some cliché medical drama. Dr. Meredith Grey (Pompeo) is an intern at the start of the series and we see her encounter challenges to rise in the medical field and follow in her mother’s footsteps of being a surgeon.

While Grey is the center of the show, the supporting cast is spectacular and probably the favorite part of the show for many of its viewers. Of course, the professional challenges are just one half of the story as the personal challenges Grey and the rest of the cast encounter are what kept viewers glued to their screens.

This could have aired in the daytime and been the next coming of General Hospital with all the love drama that went on inside the walls of the hospital is what had people talking at the water cooler the next day.
