41. The People v O.J. Simpson: American Crime Story

Release Year: 2016

Creator: Scott Alexander, Larry Karaszewski

Starring: Sarah Paulson, Sterling K. Brown, Courtney B. Vance, Cuba Gooding, Jr., John Travolta, David Schwimmer

The anthology series had its best season when it showed the all-encompassing look at the trial of the century with O.J. Simpson on trial for the murder of his ex-wife Nicole Brown and her friend Ronald Goldman. Cuba Gooding Jr. played the Hall of Fame running back who made a second career for himself on TV and film. But the star of the show wasn’t Gooding’s portrayal of the disgraced NFL player on trial for a double murder. The stars of the show were the legal team that defended Simpson and the prosecution that lost the case and saw Simpson acquitted.

The job of Courtney B. Vance who played Johnnie Cochran was worthy of the Emmy Award that he won. In fact, that was just one of nine Emmys won by the show. In addition to winning Best Limited Series, it also saw Sarah Paulson and Sterling K. Brown win for their portrayal of Marcia Clark and Christopher Darden, respectively.

Don’t miss out on a show that won nine Emmys.
