The following sentence may either be incredibly awesome or leave you tilting your head to the side, depending on your general taste in shows. The protagonist of Blue Exorcist is Satan’s illegitimate son, Rin.

Still with us? It gets better, depending on your reaction to the previous sentence.

Actually, Rin also has a twin brother, Yukio. The two of them were raised by a practicing exorcist (irony, thy name is Blue Exorcist), but said exorcist dies protecting them. Rin takes up a sword, gains some demonic powers of his own, and decides that he’s going to use them for good. It’s a bit like Hellboy that way, only with teenagers and no filed off horns. Rin does get a tail, some fangs, and pointed ears though.

Deciding to use them for good leads Rin to the True Cross Academy, where he learns more about how he can use his powers and more about the art of exorcism.

Alas, some reviews say that Satan ends up being the most likable character, with Rin displaying some of the usual tropes of being lazy in school and relying on his powers instead of working hard. There’s a lot of potential here, though.
