17. The BFG

Release Year: 2016

Written by Melissa Mathison

Directed by Steven Spielberg

Starring Mark Rylance, Ruby Barnhill, Bill Hader, Penelope Wilton, Rafe Spall, Rebecca Hall, and Jemaine Clement

The BFG is based on the children’s book written by Roald Dahl and published in 1982.

In the film, a young orphan Sophie (Ruby Barnhill) befriends the Big Friendly Giant (Mark Rylane) and travels to the land of the giants to avoid spilling the beans on giants being real.

The BFG received mixed reviews when it was released in theaters. Over time, I think the film will age a lot better than the initial reviews.
