You don’t want to knock an honest hustle, and you have to give the filmmakers credit for raising the entire $60,000 budget on their own, with the help of the crowdfunding program Kickstarter. And though they don’t necessarily take the “reanimate the dead” concept to new or exciting heights (how much can you do, really, for $60,000?), they do justice to the concept of how “doing something for science” could be easily construed into “doing something for yourself.”

Most of the criticism of the film stems from the fact that it doesn’t have “cross-over” appeal — no special effects, no super-deep storytelling, and no superstars to make the film even somewhat more appealing to the average viewer. Still, for those of you who appreciate a more cerebral approach to sci-fi rather than the blood, guts, and gore that this subject matter can tend towards, this movie is the perfect fit.
