Only the Hollywood Gods know why a remake starring Brendan Fraser was made back in the 1990s. We’re guessing that so many people had a crush on Brendan Fraser at that time, that re-making every movie with him in it was inevitable. Regardless, the original of this film is still the best, and there are no two ways about it.

Based on the book of the same name by Jules Verne, Journey to the Center of the Earth has a pretty self-explanatory premise, but what makes the film so wonderful is the wide-eyed innocence it takes in approaching the center of the Earth. Yes, scientists have since discovered what’s there – and no, it’s not as exciting as Jules Verne thought it was, and more’s the pity – but to look at this interpretation through non-jaded eyes is, indeed, the glory of this Hollywood classic.
