By now, we’ve probably figured out how a lot of these sci-fi films inevitably go: something tragic happens (in this case, a devastating accident), and this causes the hero of the story to go soul-searching to find his (or her) purpose. While discovering this purpose, he (or she) stumbles upon a discovery, or a universal truth, that somehow affects the future of mankind forever and ever. Throw in the Australian outback (even though this film is supposed to take place in America), and you have this movie. Again, not the best sci-fi movie in the world, but certainly far from the worst.
