It’s hard to believe now, but there was a time that Antonio Banderas was considered a sex symbol of the ages. And while he, in this film, looks pretty decent, time certainly has not been kind to his looks (which is why it’s, perhaps, it’s best if he stays simply voicing Puss in Boots, and not make it a habit of doing live action). Nonetheless, he looks pretty decent in this film, and the acting is nothing if not superb. It’s a poor man’s Blade Runner, to be sure – Banderas is a cop set on a mission to prevent AI beings from altering themselves, and enforcing strict penalties if they violate the directive – but it’s not a bad film at all.
