Netflix has just greenlit a new drama series titled Toxic Town, and we gathered together all the important details about it. Below, you’ll find a guide with everything we know so far about this upcoming series.

Toxic Town is a Netflix original set to be directed by Minkie Spiro from scripts written by Jack Thorne. You might recognize Spiro as a director on Netflix’s Pieces of HerDead to Me, Downton Abbey and Call the Midwife. Additionally, Thorne is known for writing the scripts for His Dark Materials, Enola Holmes, Enola Holmes 2 and Skins.

The drama series is a Broke & Bones production, the production company founded by Black Mirror creators Charlie Brooker and Annabel Jones. Jones, Thorne, and Spiro are also signed on as executive producers.

Now, who’s in the cast? Has production started? When will the show be released? Here’s what we know.

Is Toxic Town filming?

As of Aug. 10, 2023, production has not started on the drama series. However, the cameras will start rolling in the United Kingdom in late August. Unfortunately, there isn’t an official production schedule, so we have no idea when filming will wrap up. Once we find out this information, you can count on us to share it.

Toxic Town release updates

Sadly, a release date has not been announced yet. But this isn’t surprising because the streaming giant just announced that the show had been commissioned. It’s still too early in the filmmaking process.

However, we most likely can count out a 2023 release. With production and a possible lengthy post-production process, it just wouldn’t finish up in time to make a 2023 release. We’re most likely looking at a 2024 release. Once the release date is revealed, we’ll make sure to share it.

Toxic Town cast

Netflix has announced that a few more cast members have joined the series, including stars from Game of Thrones and Bridgerton.

Here’s who’s been announced to be in the drama series so far:

  • Aimee Lou Wood (Sex Education)
  • Jodie Whittaker (Doctor Who)
  • Robert Carlyle (Once Upon a Time)
  • Rory Kinnear (The Diplomat)
  • Brendan Coyle (Downton Abbey)
  • Claudia Jessie (Bridgerton)
  • Joe Dempsie (Game of Thrones)
  • Michael Socha (Papillon)
