Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story
After being an unexpected and sudden hit for Netflix in 2022, Ryan Murphy’s Monster serial killer anthology series quickly earned a two-season renewal. That ensures that the series, which centered on Jeffrey Dahmer for its first season and drew equal amounts of controversy and awards attention, will be back for at least two more seasons.
In May 2023, Netflix finally gave an update on what fans can expect when the series makes its comeback for season. Obviously, each season will center on a different killer, and fans had their guesses for who season 2 would center on. As it turns out, the second season will be titled Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story, which pluralizes the title and the subject. Cooper Koch and Nicholas Alexander Chavez nabbed the leading roles: Koch takes on the role of Erik, and Chavez takes on the role of Lyle.
Along with the announcement of the second season’s subject and title, Netflix also revealed that the new season would be released in 2024, though that was before the strikes. The new season could still manage a release in 2024, but we'll have to see what happens. Filming reportedly began in December 2023 and will wrap in February 2024. Let's hope for a drop on our watch lists by fall 2024 at the earliest, giving the show enough time to be incontention once again for major awards.
