Reptile

  • Director: Grant Singer
  • Cast: Benicio del Toro, Justin Timberlake, and Alicia Silverstone

Fans of David Fincher and gritty crime thrillers like Prisoners won’t want to miss Grant Singer’s directorial debut, a neo-noir crime movie called Reptile, this October.

While talking to Entertainment Weekly, Singer said his main goal in creating this film was to play with the theme of deception, both in deceiving the audience and guiding the characters through a series of deceptive twists and turns. In addition to directing, Singer shares screenwriting credits with star Benicio del Toro and Benjamin Brewer.

Del Toro stars as hardened detective Tom Nicholas. Assigned to the brutal homicide of a young real estate agent, Detective Nichols soon finds that nothing in this case is as it seems. To get to the bottom of the mystery, he’ll have to dismantle it piece by piece, and in the process, Nichols will uncover various illusions in his personal life, too.

Reptile reunites Del Toro with his Excess Baggage co-star Alicia Silverstone who plays his longtime spouse in the movie. Del Toro played a big part in getting Silverstone cast in the movie. The pair are also joined by Justin Timberlake, playing the boyfriend of the deceased.

Reptile premieres on October 6.
