One of the most highly anticipated releases this summer had to be Netflix’s One Piece live-action series. The first season was released on the streaming platform on Aug. 31, and critics and fans alike have enjoyed watching every single episode of the fantasy adventure show. Now everyone’s wondering if there will be a One Piece season 2. Unfortunately, the jury is still out on whether there will be a second season, but we’re keeping everyone constantly updated by sharing any new information we find.

Although we don’t currently know if a second season will happen, we have an idea of what a One Piece season 2 could be about, who could return, and who probably wouldn’t.

The first season covered the majority of the East Blue Saga from the manga series and ended by touching on a little of the sixth and final story arc in the saga which is the Loguetown Arc. In the final scene of the first season, we’re informally introduced to an important character from the Loguetown Arc. Yes, we’re talking about Smoker. This was most likely the writers’ way of setting up the second season.

By introducing Smoker, this lets viewers know that a potential second season would likely cover the Loguetown Arc. However, the Loguetown Arc wouldn’t be long enough for the second season, so it would likely continue into the Arabasta Saga.

If this were to be the case for a potential One Piece season 2, and it really did cover the Loguetown Arc and Arabasta Saga, we know which characters probably wouldn’t return. Find out below!

Is Captain Morgan in One Piece season 2?

The reason we think Captain Morgan wouldn’t be in a potential second season is because he becomes less important going forward in the manga the show is based on. As mentioned above, if there were to be a second season, it would most likely cover the Loguetown Arc and continue into the Arabasta Saga. Captain Morgan appears briefly in the Loguetown Arc and the Arabasta Saga’s Jango’s Dance Paradise side story. Since he wouldn’t really be important to the second season’s plot, the show’s writers might choose to leave him out.

Is Kaya in One Piece season 2?

The reason we think Kaya might not appear in a potential second season is because she becomes less important going forward in the manga series. Like Captain Morgan, she appears briefly in the Loguetown Arc and the Arabasta Saga’s Jango’s Dance Paradise side story. She wouldn’t be contributing significantly to the second season’s plot, so the writers might choose to leave her parts out.

Is Arlong in One Piece season 2?

The reason we believe Arlong might not come back in a potential second season is because he never returns in the manga after his defeat by Luffy in the Arlong Park Arc. This means he doesn’t appear in the following Loguetown Arc and the Arabasta Saga from the manga, which is what a potential second season is expected to cover.

Is Kuro in One Piece season 2?

The reason we believe Kuro won’t be back in a potential second season is because he doesn’t appear again in the manga after his defeat in the Syrup Village Arc in the East Blue Saga. The Loguetown Arc and the Arabasta Saga come after Kuro’s defeat, and he doesn’t appear in either one in the manga series. So if the second season were to cover the Loguetown Arc and the Arabasta Saga, we wouldn’t be seeing Kuro make an appearance.

Is Zeff in One Piece season 2?

The reason Zeff probably won’t return in a potential One Piece season 2 is because he doesn’t appear at all in the Loguetown Arc and the Arabasta Saga from the manga. Remember, a second season is expected to cover these parts of the manga.

Is Merry in One Piece season 2?

Merry definitely won’t be back for a potential second season because he’s killed by the claws of Kuro in the first season.

Is Don Krieg in One Piece season 2?

Don definitely won’t be back for a second season because he was killed by Dracule Mihawk in the first season.

One Piece season 1 is streaming now only on Netflix.
