Netflix is kicking off September with lots of great new (and old!) movies. From a classic blockbuster to a sweet new romantic comedy, there are lots of options to choose from when it comes to picking Netflix movies to watch during the first weekend of September.

Movies like Big George Foreman, You Are So Not Invited to My Bat Mitzvah, Sausage Party, and The Big Short are claiming spots in Netflix’s Top 10, but there are a few new additions that haven’t had the chance to enter the official ranking yet. If you’re looking for something fun to watch on Netflix this weekend, we’ve got you covered.

Love Again

WATCH – Arriving on Saturday, September 1, it feels fitting to start your September off with a sweet romantic comedy as we slowly segue into the cooler months of the year, especially since we’re almost a month into Droughtlander now that Outlander season 7 part 1 has finished airing.

Mira Ray (Priyanka Chopra) is struggling to come to terms with the death of her fiancé. Hoping that texting his old phone will help her to cope with his loss, Mira sends a series of romantic notes, unaware that the phone number was reassigned to a journalist named Rob Burns (Sam Heughan), who quickly becomes captivated by Mira’s beautiful prose. Critics weren’t fond of Love Again, but audiences have been far more forgiving.

Choose Love

SKIP – Speaking of romantic comedies, sometimes that’s all you need to help you unwind for the weekend, which is why Choose Love might not be the right choice. Boasting an interactive premise, Choose Love forces the viewer to be an active participant in the story. So, if you were hoping to relax and not think, this movie is the opposite of that. Yet despite all the possible endings and options, Choose Love still manages to be boring.

Jaws

WATCH – This 1975 classic from director Steven Spielberg is the movie that started the “summer blockbuster” trend. Set in the bustling tourist town of Amity Island, Jaws is an epic tale of man vs. nature. When a young woman gets killed by a massive shark while skinny dipping off the coast, the police chief begs the mayor to shut down the beaches. Fearing the loss of tourist revenue, he refuses, leaving the police chief, one brave ichthyologist, and a ship captain to venture into open water and try to catch the beast themselves.

Jaws sequels

SKIP – The Jaws sequels—Jaws 2, Jaws 3-D, and Jaws: The Revenge—have a distinct cheesy allure and even a low-key cult following, but unless you can appreciate the low-budget, B-movie charm then you’re better off skipping these, especially if you’re still riding the high of the original and want a worthy follow-up.

Don’t Worry Darling

WATCH Don’t Worry Darling is one of those movies where the surrounding press and drama became far more interesting and provocative than the film itself. But if you ended up missing this psychological thriller last year, now is your chance to watch it. Even though this is a Warner Bros. movie and still available on Max, Netflix surprise-dropped the movie on its service today, so it’s available now for those who want to see Harry Styles act.
