Netflix shows in danger of cancellation: Rebelde
I think it’s safe to say that Netflix has quietly canceled Rebelde. It’s been many months since the second season was released, and we haven’t heard a peep from Netflix or any of the cast and crew about a Rebelde season 3.
We weren’t necessarily expecting a renewal soon after the second season premiere, like what happened with the first season. But if the series were to be renewed for a third season, we should have heard something by now. Our guess is that the teen series didn’t perform well on the streamer with its second season.
The second season’s first week on Netflix only garnered 15.31 million hours. Then, there was a 43% drop in week 2 with only 8,760,000 million hours. By week 3, the show had dropped entirely from the global non-English top 10 list, never to return. These numbers were very low in comparison to the first season. In week 1, the first season debuted with 33.18 million hours. In week 2, the show had only dropped by 28% with 23.88 million hours.
If you are a fan of Rebelde, I hate to say it, but it looks like the teen series won’t be returning for a third installment. And sadly, we may not receive an official cancellation notice from Netflix by 2023. Instead, it’ll just be one of many Netflix shows to be canceled quietly.
