Netflix shows in danger of cancellation: Farzar

Brickleberry and Paradise PD creators Roger Black and Waco O’Guin re-teamed for the adult animated sitcom Farzar, which premiered on Netflix in July 2022. Like the previous shows, Farzar is a zany comedy that should appeal to fans of O’Guin and Black’s previous works and fans of adult animated shows like Family Guy, Disenchantment, and American Dad.

Dubbed an “outrageous sci-fi comedy” following Prince Fichael and his comrades venturing out of their domed city to fight evil aliens, Farzar is fairly standard low-brow humor. There’s plenty of bathroom humor and crude sex jokes throughout. It’s a somewhat dull watch if that sort of thing doesn’t appeal to you, and Farzar did not exactly win over the critics. Paradise PD and Brickleberry weren’t critically beloved either, but they got a better reception than this show.

Considering it has been more than six months since Farzar premiered, it’s safe to assume that Netflix has no intentions of renewing it for additional seasons despite its relationship with the show’s creators. Coupled with the fact, Netflix is making less and less animated fare, Farzar is as good as dead. That said, considering how many projects they’ve made for Netflix already, I wouldn’t be too surprised if O’Guin and Black team up to make another show for the streaming service at some point.

STATUS: Likely canceled
