All the Light We Cannot See
Based on the Pulitzer Prize-winning war novel of the same name by Anthony Doerr, Netflix’s adaptation of All the Light We Cannot See has been in the works since 2019 and there are a lot of reasons to get excited about this one.
For starters, we know the story is going to be a good one based on the success of the source material. The book was present on The New York Times Best Seller list for more than 200 weeks and sold millions of copies worldwide. Not only did the book win the Pulitzer Prize in 2015, but it also was honored with an Andrew Carnegie Medal for Excellence that same year. It was a no-brainer for the story to get turned into a show or movie, and Netflix should consider itself lucky to be the platform to produce it!
All the Light We Cannot See takes place during World War II and follows two central storylines. The first centers on a French girl named Marie-Laure Leblanc after Paris is invaded by Nazi Germany, and the second is about a German boy named Werner Pfennig who is sent into the military. We learn their perspectives through nonlinear storytelling in the book.
Apart from a gripping storyline, the Netflix adaptation has a great cast, including Mark Ruffalo, Hugh Laurie, Louis Hofmann, and newcomer Aria Mia Loberti who will play Marie-Laure.
