While K-dramas are all the rage on Netflix, those aren’t the only international titles the streaming service brings! In collaboration with Real Film Berlin, a new German limited series, Sleeping Dog, will debut on Thursday, June 22, 2023. What is it about?

The six-episode crime thriller stars Max Riemelt as Mike Atlas, Luise Von Finckh as Jule Andergast, Martin Wuttke as Klaus Hartloff, Carlo Ljubek as Luka Zaric, Melika Foroutan as Corinna Steck, and Peri Baumeister as Lenni. Christoph Darnstädt directs the mystery drama.

Netflix fans who watched Sense8 may recognize Riemelt as the German actor who played the main character Wolfgang Bogdanow in the series. So what can you expect to see in the show? What story does it tell? We’ve got the answer for you below!

Sleeping Dog synopsis: What is Sleeping Dog about on Netflix?

Sleeping Dog follows Mike Atlas (Riemelt), a fallen cop living on the streets, per the synopsis. He and an up-and-coming prosecutor, Jule Andergast (Finckh), work together to try and figure out the answers to an old case they thought was closed.

But when a new death happens, they find themselves tangled up in a conspiracy, which may involve those in the highest positions, including the judiciary. Or, the incident could be related to a terrorist attack that happened over a year ago. What they’re going to find is unknown. But it is a Pandora’s Box of hidden information.

The trailer reveals the challenges Mike and Jule will be facing, how the fallen detective actually has a daughter, and he has personal challenges to face himself, and the action that comes with the mystery thriller story. The video is only in German on YouTube; however, if you look up the series on Netflix, the video plays in English for you to check it out!

Sleeping Dog premieres Thursday, June 222, 2023, on Netflix.
