Sex/Life season 2’s ending could have been better

Back in the summer of 2021, Sex/Life became a new hit Netflix original series thanks to its viral NSFW moments of full-front nudity and other steamy instances of envelope-pushing. While it was renewed for a second season, it took until March 2023 for the six-episode season 2 (which also later became its final season) to premiere to a minimized bang.

In the series finale, the season’s storylines come to a natural climax and ending. However, the then-season finale operated much like a series finale, even before Netflix officially announced that the show had been canceled. Everyone gets their happy ending, including Billie and Brad, who finally get married and have a baby on the way. The show gets tied up in a neat little bow.

While it’s a fine ending, you can’t help but wonder what else Sex/Life could have accomplished with its 14 total episodes. How would the series have continued if it had been renewed for a third season? Would it have been worth blowing up the happy endings to find more conflict? Should there have been more conflict in the ending? There’s no real answers, but after watching the show’s ending, we could have been left wanting more.
