Another weekend is upon us, and this time it’s an exciting one since it’s Memorial Day, meaning most of us have three-day weekends! That means you get an entire extra day to relax and watch something on Netflix. For those who struggle to decide what to watch each night, we’ve curated a list of Netflix movies worth checking out this week.

Since May is winding down, some options are older movies that will be removed from the platform at the end of the month. If you haven’t had a chance to watch the 1999 classic Galaxy Quest yet, get on it! A new Spanish horror film and a few other great selections for your movie nights are out today.

Best Netflix movies to watch (or skip) this weekend

Here are some of the best Netflix movies to watch (and a few you can skip) this Memorial Day weekend.

Galaxy Quest

Classic and hilarious PG movie from 1999 featuring several ’90s stars.

Watch! The last day to watch this hilarious 1999 movie is May 31, so check it out ASAP! Sigourney Weaver, Tim Allen, Alan Rickman, and more star in this comedic sci-fi film about the washed-up cast of a once-iconic sci-fi series who are recruited onto an intergalactic space mission by real aliens.

Mother’s Day

Gritty TV-MA Polish action movie.

Skip! Mother’s Day is a new action movie from Poland that has recently shot up the ranks of Netflix’s Top 10 chart. However, even though it’s a fun film with some great action sequences and dark humor, it’s not the most original movie. If you watched the Jennifer Lopez movie The Mother, you might get déjà vu as the plots are similar.

Edge of Seventeen

Intimate 1998 coming-of-age movie rated TV-MA.

Watch! Not to be confused with the 2016 movie of the same name starring Hailee Steinfeld, Edge of Seventeen is a sentimental dramedy from 1998 following a teenager as he navigates high school and slowly comes to terms with his sexual identity. The last day to watch it on Netflix is May 31, so now is a great time to check it out and kick off Pride Month.

Dirty Grandpa

Crass and raunchy R-rated 2016 comedy starring Robert De Niro and Zac Efron.

Skip! Dirty Grandpa might have a great cast with actors like Robert De Niro, Zac Efron, Aubrey Plaza, and Zoey Deutch, but unfortunately, this gross-out comedy is painfully unfunny. It tries too hard to be edgy and never succeeds in being anything but aggressively bad and wastes its talented ensemble. If you never got to the theaters to watch this movie in 2016, it’s not worth spending time on it now.

Tin & Tina

New R-rated Spanish horror film.

Watch! Tin & Tina is one of the first new Netflix Original horror movies in a while, so just for that reason alone, I’m excited to check it out. Following a miscarriage, a young couple adopts two twins from a nearby convent. But the children’s shared obsession with religion soon takes a disturbing turn. Milena Smit from the Netflix series The Snow Girl stars.
