Hugh Jackman has earned rave reviews for his performance in the 2022 film The Son. He even secured a Golden Globe nomination for his work in the movie, and now it’s finally available to stream on Netflix! But is The Son appropriate to watch with your entire family, or are you better off watching in the company of adults only?

Jackman plays a father named Peter, who learns from his ex-wife that his son, Nicholas, is struggling with depression. Peter does his best to reach out to Nicholas and care for him like he wishes his father had.

The MPAA rated The Son PG-13 for mature thematic content involving suicide and strong language. A PG-13 rating is one step above PG and one step below an R rating. The main storyline is about a father struggling to help his son cope with his depression in ways he wishes his father had done for him. Is there nudity in The Son?

The sexual content in The Son is kept to a minimum. There is at least one scene of a couple kissing, and it’s implied they will have sex, but it cuts away before we see anything graphic happen. There is no nudity in the movie.
