Netflix’s latest documentary that’s sure to top the streamer’s charts this week is Anna Nicole Smith: You Don’t Know Me, following the life of the late model-actress and what led to her untimely death. The Texas native was only 39 years old when she was found dead in a Florida hotel bed.

Anna Nicole Smith: You Don’t Know Me features interviews with family members, friends, and colleagues of Smith, who share accounts of their experiences with the model and explain the biggest moments in her life. Smith was an undeniable beauty who had big dreams of becoming famous. But sadly, fame wasn’t all glitz and glamour for her. Smith learned the dark side of living in the spotlight the hard way and faced many tribulations throughout her adulthood.

From her spreads in Playboy to her acting gigs in movies like the Coen Brothers’ The Hudsucker Proxy, Smith had no problem booking jobs early in her career but unfortunately had to file for bankruptcy in 1996. A little over a decade later at the time of her death, how much money did she have?

Celebrity Net Worth reports that Smith’s net worth was estimated at $1 million at the time of her death in 2007.

In 1994, Smith married an 89-year-old billionaire named J. Howard Marshall II and claimed that he wanted her to have half of his estate when he passed, despite not putting her in his will. When he died, one of his sons came forward and fought against Smith, also claiming he was owed half the estate but wasn’t in the will. In the end, Smith never saw any money from her late husband after his death.

Anna Nicole Smith passed away on Feb. 8, 2007, less than six months after her son Daniel died at the young age of 20. Both deaths were ruled accidental overdoses. Smith is survived by her daughter Dannielynn who is now 16 years old.
