Best political shows on Netflix

There are so many good political shows on Netflix right now, and we’ve seen two of the best of those shows released in early 2023. With more good political shows coming to Netflix later this year, we shared the list of the nine best political shows on Netflix right now.

If you’re looking for a new political series on Netflix, it’s on the list. To make the list as well-rounded as possible, we included a little bit of everything from the genre on the list. There are spy shows, shows about specific politicians, good politicians, bad politicians, and people forced into service to save others in need. They’re all part of the category.

As Netflix adds more political shows, we’ll add them to the list, which we’ll get started with one of the best Netflix shows of 2023 so far, The Diplomat.

1. The Diplomat

  • Seasons: 1
  • Created by: Debora Cahn
  • Cast: Keri Russell, Rufus Sewell, David Gyasi, Ali Ahn, Rory Kinnear, and Ato Essandoh

The Diplomat premiered on Netflix on April 20, 2023. The Netflix original series tells the story of Kate Wyler (Keri Russell), the new United States Ambassador to the United Kingdom, who finds herself in the middle of an international crisis after a British aircraft carrier is attacked off the coast of Iran. While Kate tries to figure out who is responsible and stop escalation before it reaches the point of no return, she also tries to manage her marriage to a well-known husband, Hal (Rufus Sewell), and the idea of potentially becoming Vice President.

The Diplomat is so good! If you like political shows, which I’m sure you do, and/or Keri Russell, which I’m pretty sure everyone does, you need to watch The Diplomat on Netflix as soon as you can.

We’re hoping The Diplomat is renewed for season 2 on Netflix soon. So far, we haven’t heard anything about a second season, but I’ll give you a hint: it’s definitely necessary!

While you wait for The Diplomat season 2 to be renewed, check out the rest of the best political shows on Netflix right now.
