By Mads Lennon
A new season of The Ultimatum is coming to Netflix this May, and we are so excited to watch it because The Ultimatum: Queer Love will feature all queer contestants!
Hopefully, you’re not too burnt out on dating shows between Love is Blind season 4 and Perfect Match because Queer Love promises to be another addicting reality show. We shared everything viewers need to know about the new season, including the release date, host, episode count, and more!
The Ultimatum: Queer Love release date
The Ultimatum: Queer Love premieres on Netflix on Wednesday, May 24, 2023. Netflix will release episodes weekly, similar to the format they use for other dating shows. The first four episodes will be released on May 24, followed by additional episodes each Wednesday through June 7.
The Ultimatum: Queer Love schedule
Those who enjoy watching all of their episodes at the same time might be disappointed to realize Netflix will be using a batched release schedule, so the episodes will be divided up and spread across three weeks.
Here is the release schedule for the dating series:
- Episodes 1-4: Wednesday, May 24
- Episodes 5-8: Wednesday, May 31
- Episodes 9-10: Wednesday, June 7
If Netflix follows the same schedule, they did for the first season, subtitled “Marry or Move On,” then the ninth episode is the finale, and the tenth episode is the reunion special.
The Ultimatum: Queer Love host
Netflix is finally giving Nick and Vanessa Lachey a break from their hosting duties. Instead, actress JoAnna García Swisher will host the second season of The Ultimatum. Netflix subscribers probably know her best from the series Sweet Magnolias. She previously starred in projects like Reba, Once Upon a Time, Better With You, Kevin (Probably) Saves the World, and Privileged.
What is The Ultimatum: Queer Love about?
The Ultimatum‘s second season will have a similar concept to the first season, the only main difference being that this season features all women and non-binary people. This season, we’ll see five couples who have reached a crossroads in their relationship.
In each couple, one partner is ready for marriage, and the other may be nursing some doubts. Throughout eight weeks, each couple will either get married or get out, potentially choosing a new partner in the process.
Here’s the official synopsis shared by Netflix:
"The Ultimatum universe is expanding to showcase more stories of love, relationships, and the ups and the downs of commitment. In The Ultimatum: Queer Love, five new couples, made up of women and non-binary people, are at a crossroads in their relationship. One partner is ready for marriage, the other may have doubts. An ultimatum is issued. And in just over eight weeks, each couple will either get married, or get out, after they each choose new potential partners in a life-changing opportunity to get a glimpse of two different futures."
